I was power washing a deck without safety glasses and ended up with a micro splinter in my eye. Words cannot describe how painful it was...after an eye doctor used a microscope to remove it I had to wear an eye patch for a week as my eye could not stand any light. No man should tell another what to do and Matt can go ahead and do his thing...but I learned a BIG lesson that day.

I worked in an engineering workshop for 1 of the Big 3 which required safety glasses on at all times, but sometimes when just passing through I would not wear them until I got pointed out by and a raised voice from a big boss, so next time walking through I had them on and as I passed by a vehicle in a bay, out of nowhere I got hit with a stream of washer fluid in the face that would have got me directly in the eyes. Thank you for calling me out, big boss! SAFETY FIRST!

I was brushing the stairs and got a tiny splinter of glass in my eye. Local Doctor couldn't get it, optician couldn't get it, went to a+e and the nurse (probably emotionally cold) scrapped it out with a scalpel. Instant relief.

I had a expensive set of prescription eye protection glasses that saved my eye sight in at least one eye. Blown case with a piece of brass about 2 mm long embedded in center of lens half way through it. Had many 4.5 and Dremal tool cut off wheels come apart let alone wire brushes. Few weeks back I got a new full face shield, I started not to then thought What the heck... you only got 2 eyes non replaceable.

Those shocks look awesome! And Lizzie’s work is impressive … however she clearly still has some lessons to learn. Not only did she wear those weird hand-cover things, but I didn’t see her inadvertently grab something she’d just welded and burn herself once in that entire video. Keep teaching her, Matt … she’ll figure it out! 😂

First, its great to see Lizzy in this episode more than some of the others. Yea Lizzy! As a design engineer, I'm amazed to see the wrecker coming together without a piece of paper in sight and measurements being made using a yellow inch tape. I can't wait to see it in action.

I’m not an off road guy but love your channel. I love that you don’t make those folks that got stuck feel stupid, instead you’re encouraging and most of all helpful. I love that you and your crew are always positive and motivated to help one another. You don’t use foul language to get your point across and yet even when it’s tough you work the problem. I’m a dirt bike guy and have no interest in four wheels but your show is much more than getting folks unstuck and four wheeling. Your show motivates others to do better and do the right thing. Your show has helped me be better and for that I thank you, your family and your crew.

Matt I had made a plow for the front of my lawnmower, I was using a winch to lift and lower similar to what you are doing now. What I notice is the winch had enough power to destroy its mounting point pulling against the stops. My solution was to use the hood pin switch off of any basic car alarm, when the plow was lifted to max it would unground the hood switch and trip a relay connected to “up” on the winch leads, it did not affect the down leads however. Once the plow was lowered down the hood pin switch would ground again and allow the winch to operate in either direction up and down. This could be useful for you as well. Avoid any bending of the plates or breaking any pulleys. Although I know you over engineered everything, but why even take that chance with all the hard work you have put into it.

What I really like about you Matt, is that you are a quiet tough guy, that's old school, that's how I was taught. Seeing you welding from below without helmet, or protection. Once you learn that, it simply keeps on going. Way to go!

I can relate to your shower of sparks. When I was working at a major Hollywood Studio, we were building Roll Cages for a certain TV Show. while I was under the vehicle welding a small blob of red hot metal fell into my ear canal, I felt it burn its way down and into my throat. I could not move fast enough to stop its progress. Oh well not to worry it heat sealed the damage in the canal. Your Heavy Wrecker is Looking Fantastic, keep up the great work!

Lizzy you will never have a problem getting a job welding. You're skilled that is for sure. It seems like you just started not so long ago with welding with a crappie welding machine and was welding better than anyone else in the shop. Now with the new machine you are knocking it outta the ballpark. Matt you're good at fabrication then refashioning the fabrication lol. I don't know how well this wrecker will preform but it sure looks great. The best I have ever seen. You have a great team working with you. Congratulations on what looks like a work of art.
