I think that these stories are lurid and oversimplified newspaper accounts to explain how the killers became who they were. You'll notice it is always the strict and not sufficiently affectionate mother at fault. Screw that guy. Millions have a less than ideal homelife. Millions were told no. This guy slowly choked four women to death for his sexual gratification, and wasn't even put to death for the bestial shit he got up to.
@BubbleBunnyy

@@intrepidtomato okay he is a shitty person and his childhood doesn’t excuse it but I just don’t like bad things happening to children or parents being horrific to their children. I was witnessing abuse and I was abused as a child but less than what my mom endured. I’m not a murderer but I can’t just not feel bad for a poor innocent child a child doesn’t understand things the way adults do they don’t deserve mistreatment they don’t deserve abuse or neglect. Just because someone turned out to be horrible doesn’t mean a child deserved that.

I will never understand why parents do rash things like that. My little brother liked to wear my mom's heels when he was 3-5, stopping around the house, but he did it with my dad's work boots too. Little kids are experiencing everything for the first time, so everything is new and interesting.

@Lisa Williams there is very compelling evidence that suggests that abuse suffered when young can lead to brain changes. I was emotionally and physically (not sexually) abused by my dad. I may not be a killer but its definately caused me to be a bit more of an oddball than my peers. It's no excuse as most people still have free will (excluding actual insanity) but understanding what causes those to hurt others will help us avoid it more in the future.

Lisa Williams no one is saying it ALWAYS results in people like Jerry. Just that those people almost always have a history of neglect and abuse. The photo thing got to me. Back then, there weren’t digital cameras or even quick photo developing machines. Film had to be manually processed in a dark room. That means someone saw each and every photo of that terrified woman and just... gave them to Jerry...
@Author.Noelle.Alexandria
@Author.Noelle.Alexandria 4 жыл бұрын
Very likely that whoever processed them didn't care, and realistically, photos of scared-looking women isn't a crime. Yes, it took a crime to get them, but what could the developer do? Call up the cops and say a woman looked scared, and then the cops would...what? Ask Jerry who they were, and if he said a friend who posed, then what? That's not evidence for a crime, so they can't arrest him or force him to speak. Reality is that sometimes there's nothing someone can do, no matter how much you may want to. It's hard when your gut says something's wrong, but it's like the cops having to let him go through they just knew he was involved in something bad. They had to have evidence to do anything, and had laws to follow to get that evidence. Those laws prevent cops from being able to bust into random houses to look for evidence of crimes and confiscating your stuff.

I honestly don't believe on this. Psychopathy is a mental disorder - it's root is in the brain. For example, my mother had a horrible upbringing - her father was abusive, she wasn't allowed to talk and she was constantly in charge of looking after her brother who had a brain tumour and would be violent due to the tumour. HOWEVER even though she had horrific parenting she never MURDERED ANYONE. So personally I believe it is just something in you
@OnePersonPast
@OnePersonPast 4 жыл бұрын
Milly Robinson Psychopathy is a disorder that’s is exasperated by childhood trauma and abuse. A lot of people with diagnosed psychopathy can lead relatively normal lives with help but those who have been abused, especially in childhood, are more likely to have the impulse control section of their brain become fried and commit crimes from petty theft to murder. Not yes not all abuse victims become criminals but if psychopathy is thrown into the mix it’s very very very likely. That’s why there aren’t 10,000 serial killers out there haha
@xspex1321
@xspex1321 4 жыл бұрын
Millie, monsters are not born, they're made. You can have sociopaths, narcssists or even psychopaths who have those tendancies recognized and treated and they'll be normal enough. But, when these tendancies are ignored and fueled by abusive behaviour, then you get serial killers. So yeah, mom's fault.
@brookebailey2200
@brookebailey2200 4 жыл бұрын
Milly Robinson I never said all cases of psychopathy begin with bad childhood’s, I was just pointing out how unnervingly common it is with most crime. I watch a lot of Eleanor’s videos and I am yet to see one where she hasn’t stated that the criminal has had an adequate upbringing. I agree with you, the root IS in the brain, but there are other factors which come into play as to whether that root develops or not, and childhood is definitely one of them!

Abusers, just like playground bullies, like to pick one trait to blame for their severe, illogical, dislike of their victim. Obviously nothing is an excuse to bully or abuse someone but people do tend to oversimplify the motivators of horrible people. I think psychologists just don't like to admit they don't understand a lot of how people's brains & personality work. Ironically idk what psychological issues is causing that reluctance to admit ignorance, or reexamine their theories, but I notice it is a common problem, especially with people generally viewed as knowledgeable & who have respect within their field.

I feel that this is a really good example of the stress diathesis model of mental illness. The stress diathesis model says that for mental illness to manifest a few things need to happen. The person needs to have some sort of predisposition for mental illness (such as a genetic or physiological aspect). Then the individual must experience some sort of stress that brings the illness to the forefront. So maybe Brudos had something wrong and then the stress of his childhood, and then some sort of stress later that leads him to a breaking point. It’s not one thing that creates mental illness

Its such a complex issue, peoples brains are wired so differently too people could have the same thing happen to them and have completely different reactions. Sometimes abuse cause PTSD, sometimes it causes DID. I think that maybe he already had a predisposion to mental health illness, and then abuse caused a mental break that he couldn't recover from. Its such a interesting topic how abuse effects the mind and that outcome. Of course he still knew right from wrong, but maybe if we knew what caused something like this to occur we could better prevent it, and better treat the early signs so it doesn't turn into something this server.

i do think it has to do with trauma and mental illness being linked. people with abusive home lives turn out okay majority of the time. but some may have had underlying mental illnesses and that kind of trauma can cause it to manifest in harmful ways. im not saying that mental illness indicates violent or perverse behavior, but i am saying that for some people, that kind of childhood could severely distort their idea of love or affection and have them carry that energy throughout their lives. i don't know if that made sense? but let me know what you think

This case really hits home! I am only 14 minutes in but hearing all the things Jerry went through was exactly what I went through as a kid (without the shoes) lol. I was abused, physically and mentally. I was raised by only my dad. I had a younger sister we are 13 months apart. My mom drank when she was pregnant with me but not my sister. I'm the oldest. My mom wasnt involved. My dad rubbed it in all the time that I was the mental child, my sister was the perfect child. Saying how one day my sister will have a ton of money and I will get pregnant at 18 with a dude who is poor and is a bum cause I was apparently worth just as much. Turns out my dad wasnt exactly wrong I did get pregnant at 18. I have a 2 year old now. I'm 21. My younger sister is a nasty all about money 20 year old brat. I dont hate anyone but I truly dislike her for what she has also done to me not just my dad. When I had my daughter my sister would call child services on me saying I shouldn't have my daughter cause I have mental issues. I lost my daughter and had to fight for her to come home because of those accusations. She is home now but I am gonna continue to watch this video. I'm having a rough day so I've already cried alot watching this.

Dont have a kid because "oh my gosh i can buy him/her hotwheels/barbies and take cute photos and look like the best mom with their cute outfits" or shit like that. its fuckin stupid and i see it happen all the time.

Dani I can’t tell if that’s sarcasm or not so I’ll treat it like it’s not. Sex is determined if you are given a X or Y chromosome by your father. Male chromosomes are XY while female is XX. You get one of those chromosomes from each parent. You will always get an X from your mother because hers is XX but your father could give you either X or Y because his are XY. If you get a X from him, you’re female. You get a Y, and you’re male. But the comment above me is 100% correct it’s just chance on what you get.

A dog does not have the ability to discern right from wrong the way a human does. Jerry was fully in control of and responsible for his own actions. It’s horrible that he was abused and I feel sympathy towards his child self, but that in no way excuses his actions. His mother is responsible for creating the conditions that shaped him into a monster, but that does not remove the blame for his actions from him. They’re both terrible people.
