In my opinion, the man was a reflection of himself as the kid... and when people stopped believing, the man lost faith, and he became old. His child-like self had enough faith to restore his youth. Very beautiful story... had me in tears at the end.

Anyone notice how effortlessly he sings the tongue twister? I think that’s the best version I ever heard: What a to-do What a to-do to die today at a minute or two ‘til two. A thing distinctly hard to say, but harder still to do. For they’ll beat a tattoo at twenty ‘til two, A rat-a-tat-tat-a-tat-tat-a-tat-too, And the dragon will come when he hears the drum At a minute or two ‘til two today, At a minute or two ‘til two.

Truely beautiful. The young man wished to have a dad again. The old man wished to have a son again. They both wished for someone to believe in them. And their faith brought them all of these. One could argue this as conjecture, yet certainly it appears to implied. Strongly. Even faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains.

NO MAN IS AN ISLAND The Point: You either grow in connectedness (consciousness) with everything in the Universe or you perish. Zoe Martin and Elijah both totally believed that the Miracle Machine would work, but the Salesman did not fully believe. Young Elijah believed his absent father would return, but the loner Salesman believed otherwise. Elijah was, according to the Books of Kings in the Hebrew Bible, a prophet and a miracle worker who lived in the northern kingdom of Israel during the reign of King Ahab.
