@@sailorkaylax What one likes to forget while watching this KIDS show. The soldiers that were with Xiao were supposed to be like Elite Firebenders. The best of the best in terms of "simple" soldiers available to the firenation. And they werent even a minor inconvenience for Iroh.

The fandom tends to portray Soka as the silly goofy young guy. Just remember that was Zuko who asked to a waterbender that already defeated him once, at the north pole, at night, a full moon night, when surrounded by ice, if she was here for a rematch.

I often find myself looking for new reactors to this series and sticking with them based on how certain scenes make them feel. Seeing the emotion in you from Yue's sacrifice shows me you are an empathetic human. Excited to see you react to the rest of the series.

The Pokemon bit at the end - ** chef's kiss ** Yue's death is one of the elements of the story I've had strong opinion changes on because initially I really liked the symbolism, these days I can't help but only feel angry that children have to make such sacrifices. Sokka, buddy, that was rough... In case no one else mentioned it, when Aang was merged with the ocean spirit they only used pushing hand movements and stances. I noticed that on a re-watch a bit ago - that kind of detail is really appreciated from this former martial artist.

3:11 I have rewatched this show so many times that it's embarassing to admit this, but I just realized that all the faces that are shown when he says 'some faces will vanish from our tribe' literally do vanish from the tribe, including Pakku, who doesn't die but just moves to the southern tribe, hence the way he phrased it (instead of saying they'll die or not make it back or w/e) that's some nice foreshadowing I never picked up on before

But seriously, this IS perhaps the greatest animated show of all time...no...one of the greatest shows of all time, animated or otherwise. I'll try to keep up. Such great characters. This was my daughter's favorite show...when you're done I'll recommend her second favorite. My daughter got me an Uncle Iroh shirt a couple years ago...she keeps trying to get me to Cosplay as Uncle Iroh...who knows...maybe someday (my wife has said she would make the costume). Since I know you are way ahead on Patreon I know you have already seen how obviously Azula is favored by daddy like how Zuko says she is. This episode is probably where Sokka started being referred to as "The Backbender". He got Suki liking him in just a few days from hating him. And now the only official princess in the Water Tribes. Though since Sokka and Katara are the children of Chief Hakota they would be a prince and princess if the Southern Water Tribe was as strong as the Northern Water Tribe. Zuko's monologue in the cave is more truthful than many people know. Zuko was actually created late in show development, he wasn't even going to be a character in the show. 15:28 the layout of the ship, the sound effect should have been a splat not a splash. Dumb teen boy would have landed on the deck of the ship being thrown off the bridge. But two obvious deaths would have been a little much for a kid's show. 15:28 were you trying to show no emotion as well like Koh would steal your face if you did? 15:28 Iroh is typical of the strong silent type. Never underestimate how capable someone who looks weak and simple. But he is incredibly OP. I hate to tell you this Kayla, but this is not the saddest pair of episodes. Some of the saddest you might have seen already, I can't remember which ones are which numbers though to know if you have. I know you have seen the explanation of The Avatar State and how truly vicious and evil Azula is since that's in the beginning of Book 2, I think in Episode 1.

I don't know about weakest but book 1 is definitely the slowest. I would say it's consistently above average. Book 2 quickens the pace and is a little more chaotic with some great episodes and maybe a couple of questionable ones. Book 3 is consistently good to great. My opinion of course

Suki means "love/beloved" in Japanese, but it may also came from Tsuki, which means "moon" so both Sokka's sweethearts are the moon 😊 It's also interesting that Sokka is similar with the Cebuano (a Filipino language) word "saka" that means "rise". Well water tribes rise with the moon.
