I also have the Sigma 150-600mm. I really enjoy using it when I know I need that extra length to get the pictures I want. I also have a Sigma 100-400mm and the two lenses cover such a wide variety of uses. I've taken some really nice photos with both; primarily birds. The 150-600 does get heavy after a while, and I've been using a monopod when I know I need to have super steady equipment. I enjoyed your comments about the lens and look forward to seeing other videos.

I love the Sigma lens too, and on my 70D and 90D bodies it's the equivalent of a 240-960 mm lens - great! Of course I also then have to apply the crop factor to the aperture, making it an f/8-10 - less great, but still more than usable! But when a lighter setup is what I want, I'll use my Canon EF-S 55-250 mm f/4-5.6 IS STM. This wonderful lens can of course only be mounted to crop sensor bodies, but that's what I own. With the 1.6 X crop factor it's equivalent of an 88-400 mm f/6.4-9 lens on a full frame body. It's super lightweight and nicely sharp. (The STM version, that is - not the older version!) And although it isn't a macro lens, it's great for close-up photography of butterflies and other large insects.

Really awesome Would it be possible, to do a video with another camera with a 35mm lens, for an OTS shot of you, looking at the camera and how distant your subject is, so we can see both views, including one on your LCD of the tele setup, because just looking at a zoomed in picture isn't clear how far it actually appears from a normal pov

I got this lens for my birthday the other day very excited about it. I have the 100-400mk2 for wildlife or airshows but wanted some extra reach when needed especially with smaller animals. And on a full frame Canon doesn't seem too bad for ISO like you said. Thanks for the great review.

Hi Nicole, really cute & great videos/pics of the chipmunks. I bought the Sigma 150-600mm lens a few weeks ago after watching your video on your first impression and reviewing the details on that lens. Still learning how to use it but so far, it's a terrific lens. Now I understand why I couldn't find a used one, owners want to keep it, LOL. I went on a field trip last week to catch the beauty of the color ''fall leaves'' the pics are GREAT. Can't do it without a tripod. It's a very good lens, I really like it. I owned a sigma 150-600 C canon fit and regularly use it on my eos 7dii, eos R7 and so y A6600. The biggest weakness is the low light issue as it will struggle, however bear on mind this is £900 lens new and 60mmL IS USM f4 can lens is £18,000 or RF 100-500L IS USM is £2,750 new. Hence why this lens is popular ! It is difficult to get sharp images at 600, I would say 420 to 520 is a good range to stick to. There are pulsing issues on my R7 and Sony A6600, however this is due the eye detection algorithms and no firmware update for A6600 via sigma mc-11 adapter or for eos R7 due to canons 3rd party ban on sharing data, and 3rd parties making g lenses for RF mount.

Great info in there and you must be one of the most natural video makers I have ever seen, I love your natural, chilled out way of reviewing an item without trying to show how 'expert' you are. To me, that makes you an expert. I still can't decide between this lens for extra reach or a canon 70-200mm f4 for image quality. Any thoughts?
@NicoleGlass3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words! It just depends what you need it for. I have the Canon 70-200 f/2.8 and the quality of that lens is way better than any of my other lenses. But of course the Sigma 150-600 has that amazing telephoto range which is crucial for bird photography and things like that. Maybe try them both out if you can, see which one suits your purposes more. For wildlife, something like the Sigma would be better, but for portraits, lower light and such, I'd go with the Canon.

Would you recommend this for when there is not so much wildlife around? I am from Malta, a tiny Mediterranean island that's mostly built up. For longer distances I use the EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM adapted to my camera (I have an M50 mark II). For hand held street photography I use native EF-M lenses that are lighter but do not have as long a focal length. The M50 uses APS-C so 300mm translates to 480mm.

I bought this lense just last week . I paid £849 . Am here in the Uk . I've noticed already that i'll need a tripod . What one do you use ? . As my subject matter covers a wide spectrum . My main gripe with Long range zoom lense reviews is none of them capture planes or Ships . I recently used it to capture some Passenger jets some pics turned oyt well . With having used a Sony DSCHX350 For 3 years constantly . I missed the instant zoom lense . Which is unable with the sigma . I missed some shots .in all practice makes perfect . I also took some Test shots the day i bought it with my newly bought Camera , Canon850D .As it's new am juat trying out all the settings . I set it to RAw Only . Tbh i've been having major issues transfering images via the USB . And the EOS utility isn't all that great ..ethier . loses signal with ease. . I had to buy a USB Card reader weirdly it doesn't read etc RAw files only Jpeg . I also noticed that it lacks a spirit level . At times it was hard to keep it level

On my part I bought a Sirui traveler 7C carbon. It's great so far, reasonable price, light weight and it comes with a carrying bag. I use the original plate (comes with the tripod) for the camera & I leave it on the camera all the time. I bought a Winberly P-50 lens plate that I alway's leave on the 150-600 sigma lens. This way it makes it faster to change lenses and reduces the risk of losing the plate. It takes a little time to get used to the ball head but once you do, it works great.
