I've always said: 'the only good thing about mistakes, is that you can learn from them'.
@mr.nobody_6825 күн бұрын
Well said, and well known. However, many fail to learn. To learn, one must recognize their mistakes and take responsibility for them. Unfortunately, many people today do not accept this responsibility, making it frustrating to make them see their mistakes at all, more over, to explain them the importance of recognizing mistake and learning from it.

@mr.nobody_68 you're absolutely right 👍

If you're not making mistakes, you're not trying hard enough. That's to say, if you're doing something new, or pushing limits, you're going to make mistakes. If you're not making any mistakes, you're playing it too safe and avoiding risk at the cost of growth and fulfillment.

This approach to life reminds me of the book "Strategy of the Dolphin," by Dudley Lynch. It was popular in the 60s. He defines, in ascending order of levels of development, a number of intelligence and personality types, with dolphin highest (so far).

@vanrozay8871 Great point! The ideas in _Strategy of the Dolphin_ are relevant, especially the dolphin as the highest level of development, symbolizing adaptability and teamwork. It's impressive how concepts from the 60s still resonate. Thanks for sharing!

I guess Jerry Garcia was a Sigma then. I love the song he wrote!

"Absolutely! Jerry Garcia was the Sigma, he could jam solo for hours, expressing emotions through music for our enjoyment. Having heard him (🪦), I too am grateful for his Grateful Dead." @WhiteWolfCZ457 Aha, here is one for you: "Why did the Jerry start a band? Because he wanted to play his own tune without following anyone else's 'beat'!" 🎸😄

Whom are we seeking approval from? The Human race is made of all sorts of people. What makes anyone's opinion more valid than your own?
@mr.nobody_68Ай бұрын
In the end, you don't need anyone else's validation to know who you are. But we are, who we are. Proud and vain. And, yes, It's true that the human race is incredibly diverse and no single person's opinion should automatically override your own, the relationship between self-validation and external feedback is far deeper than simply choosing one over the other. The real cracker is developing strong self-awareness and confidence in your own judgment while remaining humble enough to learn from others when their perspective offers genuine value (if ever, but nonetheless, you must). This doesn't mean seeking universal approval, but rather engaging with different viewpoints thoughtfully and authentically while staying true to your core values.

You're 3 people... Who you think you are, who others think you are, and who you truly are. Sometimes, others can offer insights into who you truly are that you're blind to. In order to know, one needs to be exceedingly honest with themselves and have done the necessary work to understand themselves beyond their ego.

Buddhism makes us into stone. We become indestructible.
@mr.nobody_68Ай бұрын
I agree with you; each and every one of us has the potential to become as resilient as stone, independent of Buddhism, Christianity, bodybuilding, or any other traditional path. Our experiences, challenges, and personal growth shape us into unyielding beings.This resilience doesn’t require a specific doctrine; it can emerge through facing life's trials head-on, learning from failures, and embracing our unique journeys. We all have the capacity to cultivate inner strength through self-reflection, perseverance, and the connections we build along the way.
