@F2P_Tricky2 жыл бұрын
@@weeehh8131 You might like Storpey. In fact I recommend that everyone in this thread give him a try if they haven’t already. Super casual, down-to-earth horror lets player with loads of content to sift through. He’s one of the first ever horror lets players on KZbin, but he doesn’t do much horror anymore, a lot like psychedelicsnake. Despite Storpey having blowup reactions, they seem to be oddly authentic. He actually seems genuinely afraid of scary games and it doesn’t seem to be an act like with Markiplier. He’s also not nearly as cynical and critical as John is, so if you get a bit fed up with John’s frequent passive aggressiveness and smugness towards the games he plays, Storpey is your go-to. Much more complimentary and insightful with his commentary (well, when he’s capable of giving it, since he’s usually terrified throughout the entire game due to the games he gets suggested most often. Typically full of jumpscares because his community likes his screams lol). Also, Storpey’s gameplay format is similar to John’s in that he doesn’t add those invasive, childish and obnoxious edits like those bigger KZbinrs do (I’m looking at you, Mark). It’s just an unedited and uncut journey with him through the game he’s playing. He even did this cool little thing during livestreams where he would turn his donation sound effects into scary noises, so if someone donated him x amount of money they could scare the shit out of him whenever they wanted. Pretty fun and creative use of his reactions that I’ve never seen from a horror lets player before. He also started tinkering with a heart rate BPM monitor in his more recent horror lets plays. He also used it for some Minecraft streams iirc (because he gets scared pretty easily, even at Minecraft cave noises and creepers/spiders sneaking up on him). You’d be forgiven for thinking that he MUST be faking if he has such insane reactions to the least scary things, but as far as I’ve been able to tell he’s just naturally hysterical and it’s an absolute ball every single time lol. And on top of it all, he’s a VERY underrated graveyard KZbinr who needs all the support he can get. He has neck and wrist problems (not sure how they’re doing currently), so playing horror games is a bit much on him nowadays, hence why he doesn’t really play them anymore. Honestly, if I had to label ANY KZbinr I know as being underrated, it would ONLY be him. He’s such a blast. To get started I’d recommend his playthrough of “Inside” He’s especially hysterical in that one, lol. Really anything is just as good though. But some of his videos have hidden gems as far as screams go.

So if something is scaring a beloved animal family member, I think it's pretty reasonable to try to soothe it. My cats are registered emotional support animals. I know that might not mean much to some people, but I try to be there for them like they are always there for me. I'm not sure what your comment was meaning but I just wanted to further explain what I may have meant as it was 5 years ago, I can only assume that, like today, I was expressing empathy for the cat. I wasn't implying the person was being abusive or anything. @pulsegamin47903 жыл бұрын
@@nobody2996 How is having reasonable expectations of a free product cynical? Do you even know what cynical means? This game being free is very impressive and outside the art style, it provides great ambience and sound design. The chases are well done and the psychological sequences are decent. Honestly, what did you expect from a free game? I really suggest you try looking at things with a positive outlook for a change.
@nobody29963 жыл бұрын
@@pulsegamin4790 But you're not talking about reasonable expectations, you're saying that the game's price tag means I should keep my expectations so low that a tame comment about the gameplay being pretty basic and bland is me expecting too much. That I shouldn't praise it for it's actual qualities. Maybe it is, I don't know, it's been two years and I have little to no memory of the game, so I could have been completely wrong, but that means nothing to the point at hand. I say I didn't like the gameplay. I didn't say I expected AAA quality. I didn't say it was a terrible game. I said that, despite the great art style, the gameplay/design is bland, repetitive (and I think this was at the peak of the post-amnesia craze where the indie game market was swamped with the same basic horror game with the same repetitive loop) and makes for a dull experience on my end. Your response is that me not enjoying the gameplay (and I probably disagreed about the chases and psychological sequences) means that I'm expecting too much simply because the thing in question is free, that thinking something is ill implemented is being cynical because it's free. Again, nothing about my comment implied my expectations were high or that I was looking for a reinvention of the wheel, it just says that I think the gameplay lacks substance. And now you're assuming that, from two tame comments, that I have a negative outlook on things in general. That's pretty damn cynical.

I'm glad you said "It's not cool to be ignorant" in terms of math. Coming from a mathematician, literally everyone that I talk to outside of my work say "Oh math? Ew that's gross, I couldn't wait to be done with that." People fail to see the incredible beauty and art of math, and it makes me really sad, because it truly is beautiful. Also, it's super annoying to hear "That's gross" in terms of my career choice and my passion.

Ok so John, I know when a door is blocked when I can turn the doorknob all the way, and hear it open, but it still doesn't budge, and typically, when a door is locked and requires a key, the knob simply doesn't turn all the way. Granted, I imagine many people don't experience a lot of blocked doors in life, it is still a fairly easy way of distinguishing locked from blocked.

When I watch John's streams I always think how I wish he played other genres on KZbin but then I go down the indie games rabbit hole and enjoy them as well.. he should be able to do both though.. y'all would watch other stuff too right??
@9fthobo6295 жыл бұрын
He has second channel which may have other games, I THINK. Although the only thing I've watched on there is his Danganronpa series, which I guess is classified as horror. It's a good game though.

John, one of my favorite things about you is that you have a habit of mixing up words and sounds when you're speaking naturally (secret of the "urz"). I know you make fun of yourself for this, but it makes me feel so normal. I've done this constantly since I was a kid, especially when I'm excited, and I still get teased for it in my 30s. To see someone chuckle it off like it's no biggie is really refreshing to me.

You're right and possibly wrong. Krokodil originated in Russia. In Russian it's pronounced Krock- o- dill. But it is named such bc it makes your skin look like Crocodile skin, hence the name. So I guess in English, it would be called Krock- o- dial? That is my interpretation. Take from that what you will.
@projectOMA6 жыл бұрын
Pdx Paula - believe it's still pronounced the former in english. Watched a Nova special one night after work. Talk about a worthless drug. Takes addicts literally all day to make a substance that only gets them high for roughly 10-15mins and is more toxic, as well as kills, faster than meth.
@DisDatK96 жыл бұрын
You'd be amazed at what people will take to get an opiate high if it's cheaper than heroin or pills. As a former opiate addict myself, luckily I never devolved beyond pills, but I was in a community of people who would buy something that even the dealer didn't know was cut with (sometimes fentanyl was cut with meth, which is just a deadly combination.) Especially in Russia, there is a gigantic opioid epidemic.
