Great video, and hepful as always, Mr. Z. The greatest lesson truly is, "Keep on learning." Even at my age, I'll never be out of school, for guitar, or anything else. And R.I.P. to your friend, and my condolences. However long ago he passed, it's always just yesterday. You know I understand. My brother, and nearly everyone I knew, all gone to that big gig in the sky. The friends of our youth are the ones that make the biggest difference, and leave the deepest wounds when they leave us. 🎸😢

Thanks, I appreciate it. Yeah, Ray was a great friend. A different sort of person who was often misunderstood. He was something like 6'6", 300, but just a super-nice guy. It happens to all of us, as you note. Thanks for the support!

Thanks Mark, good tips as per usual. Can’t fathom how you get any negative comments!

Thanks Ian. It happens. I think people have expectations they create and then become upset when those expectations don't pan out the way they want them to and lash out. My personal feeling is that this delivers on what it says it will do. And the stories and learning process that I outline in it truly happened and affected my playing in a real way. In any event, I appreciate the support!

Good lord, the haters are out and about! I have struggled to play stuff for this exact same reason, I think this a great video! Thanks Mark!

Thank you so much! (And yes, a couple of people were clearly upset things. I think they'll survive. LOL!) Thanks for the support!

It's true. I could never play the main riff to AC/DC's Back in Black. After months of trying to play one of the solos in Fade to Black (Metallica) I went back and was able to do the AC/DC riff!

I had a similar experience with Led Zeppelin’s The Rain Song That said I love taking a song I like and playing it differently than the original That also helps with ideas for new songs. Enjoyed the video

Thanks! Yes, I enjoy that too. Each of our hands (and minds) come at guitar and music in different ways. It's fun to find the right pieces that fit our own puzzles!

3:00 - That’s officially called a mondegreen! They happen all the time in music of all sorts… Another great example is “I'd Really Love To See You Tonight,” by England Dan & John Ford Coley-MANY people (myself included) have misheard the lyric “I’m not talking about moving in” as “I’m not talking about the linen.” 😂

@@MarkZabel Even WORSE is Rick Astley, singing: “Then I’m gonna give you up Then I’m gonna let you down Then I’m gonna run around and desert you Then I’m gonna make you cry Then I’m gonna say goodbye Then I’m gonna tell a lie and hurt you!” When I heard this, I used to think, “WOW, what an incredibly SADISTIC guy!!!!!!!”

I remember reading somewhere all practice is global. In other words, if you decide to learn finger style, your picking will improve also. Focus on jazz? Your country licks will improve.

Yes. It's not one-to-one of course, but it makes you a better musician and that's bound to affect your play in other areas. Plus, there's just so much good music out there!

No more no more made me want to play guitar! I play it in open E5 tuning. EBEEBE I think Joe Perry uses that Tuning?
@MarkZabel
@MarkZabel 5 ай бұрын
It could be. Open E only differs from E5 tuning if the G-string is played. So it doesn't matter in the opening riff. Either way, it's pretty neat how easy it makes the riff!

There’s this song I like but at one point the tab says5 fret a string, 10th fret G string I can no more reach that then fly to the moon. My hand just is not big enough then you gotta go. 595755.
