Completely agree about Modern Simpsons getting beat up without cause. Comparison with when it was the greatest TV show is unfair to its writers. That said, you can see the writers are looking to push new ideas - and I expect they're constrained and told to do the same thing every season instead. Also - if you were a comedy writer - would you turn the Simpson down?! IMO, the finale should be a 2024/modern day version of Simpson's Roasting on an Open Fire. Therein showing that the struggles of families back then are the same as today. We're not so different as we were 36 years ago.

Apparently the Finales spoofed in the end credits are this in order: The Sopranos M*A*S*H Mad Men The Mary Tyler Moore Show (It's not "Friends", as you can see "WJM-TV" in the background) Breaking Bad Game of Thrones Frasier Succession Newhart, and the song playing is "They'll Never Stop The Simpsons"

Nope prior to this episode they did flash forward episodes like Bart hood which showed his 11th and 12th birthday and the Christmas ones show adult Bart but this is the first canon episode to age him up.

My favorite finale was Futurama until the Hulu revival ruined it. In a way, the episode you were talking about was kinda like the South Park episode where Stan saw everything as poop, and while thought he was sick of things changing, he was actually sick of things staying the same . That's why PC Principal and Tegridy Farms came to the show. Back to The Simpsons, I'm glad none of that happened in the Simpsons but I wouldn't mind Comic Book Guy and Kemeeko having a baby since there was an episode that brought it up
