The Sims 1 Was Actually Really Dark

This Sims 1 Gameplay video shows that it was actually really dark and disturbing game.
So I love The Sims original. More than The Sims 4 for sure. I love playing the O.G. sims 1 vanilla, and I love ignoring Sims 4 tutorial videos. But what I came across this time really shocked me. The Sims 5 hasn't even come out yet and I think that it shouldn't until we deal with this. Whether you watch on mobile, or you watch in your cottage living, I think this computer game from the 2000s will leave you disturbed and sad. The soundtrack for this game might be really happy and positive, but just wait until you start a fire...

get a really incompetent sim and a really crapy stove and get him a family, name them after my mom my dad and me and because of the crappy stove they would always eventually burn the house down. (edit: I grew up fine)

I loved making haunted houses. The game's atmosphere was creepier than any of the other Sims games to date. I also enjoyed listening to the music.

everyone in sims 1 hates one another, the easiest way to make friends is to just cook dinner and eat it with guests so they're forced to speak with you i think the most disturbing thing about it for me has always been the way school is handled for children- you have to do homework every single night to prevent your grades from slipping, which sounds logical until you consider how long that takes. combined with the lack of weekends and children have very little free time. there's no 'grace period' for skipping school like adults have for skipping work. all in all, the fate of every single child i've ever created in the sims 1 has been, sooner or later, getting shipped off to military school to never be seen again...

@@jacksont9455 maybe SimNation in Sims 1 is in eternal war with some country, but no one has balls to talk about it in publicly or even don't know about this, because the mass media is controlled by government. Maybe soldiers are needed so much that government decides to use children against the enemy. Just brainwash them, and they will be the most loyal corps in the country.

even with this game being over 20 years old all the deaths in this games will never stop being really scary. fire kills more sims then removing the ladders from the pool.

The Sims 1 has its own mystery and creepy side somehow. But think about it. When I playing the sims 1 or the sims 2 as a female adult, sometimes there's awkward feeling since the voice provider for adult female sim (the sims 2 and the sims 2) is passed away. But still, I also thanking her for providing her voice for this nostalgic game.

Your baby is more likely to be kidnapped by the babysitter in The Sims 1 I once spent 3 hours straight just to lose my Sims 1 baby to the babysitter. I didn't save because I didn't think it'd happen... Anyways I play The Sims 1 on my GameCube.

You didn't know that dead Sims lie on the ground for a while before they actually turn into grave stones? My conclusion: you've never played this game before. Or, you only saw them die in the pool.

Not entirely true - in the base game, without expansion packs, they just turn into gravestones or urns. It's only with the first expansion pack (which really didn't take long to be released) that they started to lie on the ground until after the grim reaper performed his ceremony on them. You're then able to plead with him that he won't let them die. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes you lose but he turns them into zombies.

@@101Volts Yeah, your right. Actually, I've never played the base game. The first release that I got as one of my Christmas gifts around 2005 was The Sims Deluxe Edition, which had the first expansion pack included (Living Large, that was its name if I remember correctly).

@@Greg74948 That's the right expansion. Also in it, there was a hardly talked about way for sims to die - if they're in a small room with the Gnome Carving Station, they'd die of wood dust inhalation if they were at a low Mechanic skill level. It's either 2 or 3 or both.

The Sims 1 had its share of creepiness but one has to admit that it was the most stable and bug-free iteration of them all. A fine example about this statement is the way community lots are handled in The Sims 1. Let's say I take the cab to the local park, and have a meal at the restaurant. I then place an order at the restaurant and the rest is all automatic. You can see the waitresses, the chefs, the boss boys and the other customers. They all do their things and it's actually smooth sailing. You get to eat each of your courses while watching life going about a the restaurant. And then, you try the very same thing for The Sims 2, The Sims 3 and the Sims 4. And you see how janky and unstable it is. The NPCs are not as smooth as in the original game and the customers are not sitting and being waited by the restaurant team The Sims 1 is the best when it comes to bugless functions. And also, the degree of control you get to have over your Sims and the wide array of neighbourhoods is astounding. Like I said before. The older a game is, the better it usually is. Developers did enjoy working on their games. Nowadays, the pay and the money is all what matters.
