Unpopular opinion: The Sims 4 community do not stand their ground. This is why EA will continue releasing lack luster 'oooo new' content then moving on to the next game, SIms 5, Sims 6, whatever. Generally, when a horrible pack is announced, people complain all over social media, including game changers and big youtubers. Upon release, most of the community cave in and purchase the pack anyway because of a 'cool looking item', world or to have all packs. If you blatantly dislike a pack even upon release, but support it with your money......... that's money in EA's pockets and thats all that counts. Real change will ONLY happen when simmers stop buying packs regardless. I understand that content creators buy all packs to, well, make content.... I just wish the community stood their ground more in general and stopped giving excuses to why a multi-biollionaire company blatantly ignores it's community. Doesn't matter if it's a new concept.There is literally no point in complaining about packs or EA, then buying every pack they release because 'you love the sims'. You can love the Sims without being manipulated. EA care about money. Put a big name like Stranger Things (like DBD has done) or Star Wars and it will sell like hot cakes. They will depend '''''''loyal'''''''' simmers and the Star Wars fanbase. I'm so glad to have found your channel a couple of months ago, because now I am SO happy playing Sims 2, where content was made with way more love. The problem is that EA provides free access to all packs for all big Sim-KZbinrs via Game Changers. These KZbinrs will never criticise too harsh on the packs and pretend they're all fun to play. So the community gets influenced by them and is convinced to buy the pack. It was the same with Eco Lifestyle.. it's a boring pack, but all the big youtubers lets played it, pretending it's sooo much fun

I agree with your points theoretically, but I doubt that it'll work as well this time. The new Star Wars trilogy was divisive as hell even amongst hardcore Star Wars fans and the majority of Star Wars gamers aren't gonna take any more of EA's shenanigans after the Battlefront II fiasco of 2017. Their community overall is a lot more outspoken and vocal about the bullsh*t EA's putting out (remember, the loot-box scandal went to court because of this very game). I wonder if EA truly thinks Star Wars is this magical thing it used to be; certainly when it comes to toys, but in gaming? Nah, that ship has sailed a long time ago.

Star Wars, in comparison, is an active story in a fictional universe that is dynamic and constantly changing. The implementation also isn't the same. Supernatural creatures and elements in the past acted more like a fun twist to the life simulation format - some fun abilities, additional features, etc. The Star Wars pack is looking to be more of an adventure that attempts to railroad the player into a pre-determined story path and way of playing, which doesn't fit the game well. In supernatural, you're still playing the life of a person, it just happens to the life of a vampire, werewolf, witch, fairy, etc, and you have complete control over *how* you play it. In Journey to Batuu, you're joining up with the Resistance to take down the Order, or joining the Order to help propagate their rule. It's not the same, in my opinion. Star Wars is known for it's stories and it's action. Neither of them suit a life simulation game.

Me and my husband watched Pixelade's video and every single "area" or "character" or "zone" or "story arc" has something to do with the Star Wars Disney theme park attraction. This is like a playable advertisement. EA is the only company that can make Star Wars right now and they hold the contract until 2023. They're taking advantage of that. Andreas I would be thrilled to give them my money if this game had some depth. If these packs did what they said. If we had some freaking consequences like the older games. For those who wonder 'Why Star Wars?': EA's license to produce Star Wars themed/inspired games is running out so they try to squeeze out every ounce of Star Wars as long as they're allowed to. Hence why there were 4(!) Star Wars related games on Gamescom this year. All of you are right. It's not about the community. It's about the money. And I honestly feel bad for Star Wars fans because they get excited about a Jungle Adventure/Strangerville crossover abomination with some new costumes. There will be barely any new gameplay. Even the animation of the laser sword fights is a copie of the sword fights from The Sims Medieval. I actually REALLY like playing missions. I loved The Sims 2 Stories, The Sims 2 Pet Stories and The Sims Medieval but this ain't it, chief. I'll gladly let this pack pass and keep waiting for farming.

EA has owned the Sims franchise since Sims 1, but there has definitely been a decline in the company and the franchise as well over the past 20 years. I love Sims 2 to death, but just look at all the gamebreaking bugs that they left to modders to fix, or at the decline in quality of some of the later packs (Bon Voyage anyone?). It's only with Sims 4 that they've taken a big enough nosedive for most people to be unable to overlook.

We see and feel your anger as a long time fan. It feels like they are literally crapping in our faces. They know they will get with their bad scams of a “game”. this is why i don't play the sims 4 because it is so tacky, lame, and cash-grabbing. In the sims 2 and the sims 3, all the packs, contents, and systems that they implemented into the game actually connect to and enhance your day to day gameplay, they grab the player's interest immediately. but the packs they release for the sims 4 is just so...they have little content, is way too real life-y, and has too much limitations. they advertise it like any other generic product. Don't get me wrong, the sims 4 does add so many new things that you can't do or don't have in the previous sims games, but at the same time, you don't know what to do in game! everything is way too detailed, boring, and tedious. they really should take a few notes from the sims 2 and 3, but it is very possible that they won't 😞 katy perry's sweet treats >>>>>>>>> the sims 4

BUT, from what I can gather, it is more attached to the latest trilogy of Star Wars which is extremely divided among fans. I wouldnt be mad if they just made it into a sims medieval or sims castaway type spin off game where it would make sense for it to take place in star wars and involve not normal stuff because the sims in the past has had spin offs like that and this would be the perfect chance to revive that. But that would actually involve effort and so they just put it into a game pack that majority of players dont want. Why put in effort to make it its own spin off game with its own features or fix a game that is missing so many features when you can just keep pumping out pointless packs for the money.

Heres the thing : the sims 3 world adventures was my favorite gamepack for sims 3. But it fit to a normal gameplay SO WELL. You literally coud travel with your family, on a honeymoon etc. And if you would want to, you could also explore TONS of dungeons. This type of gameplay can work, but not with star wars. I just want to see a better aspiration/lifetime want and wants/whims system. I remember the literal hours I spent playing the sims 2 and 3, because there was always something guiding my gameplay: fulfilling my sims' wants! But the sims 4 gets a little boring after a while. I'm just done with sims 4. To me, when I played the game, I notice how boring and dry it is since I started playing sims 3 and sims 2. There's some much in sims 4 that is missing that you need a lot of mods to have fun to play this game. But with sims 3 and 2 you don't need that many or none at all. They need to work on the game and add gameplay value to it instead giving us something that majority of us don't want, but I do hope that the people who wants this does have fun though. I'm not a starwars fan, I barely know anything about starwars, but with ea adding this to the sim world is really freaking weird. As soon I found the Sims 2, I deleted Sims 4 from my computer and from my life. TS2 was just better made. I'm just sad that I spent so much time and money trying to make TS4 feel complete. Yeah, I tried playing Sims 4, but always after a few days I get genuinely tired of it. None of the packs add depth and story, just.. additional content nobody asked for. I tried playing Sims 3, but it's laggy, it's badly developed and it's frustrating to run. The only fun I had with it is with unlimited household members mod where I had my legacy of vampires and werewolves living underground, over 20 Sims. I try new LP's but they just..don't compare. The Sims 2 has its issues but God damn are they almost nonexistent when compared to the newer installments. I had it on my PC for YEARS now and it's still punching in strong. I was just ranting at my boyfriend about this. I've been playing the Sims for 20 years and I am so upset by this. Its a clear cash grab they don't give a single fuck about the community and their needs. None of this content will be usable in any other aspect of the game. I knew it was like this for a while but this is awful. I have no clue how they are going to spin this into something good. This isn't even the Sims. Every single feature in that pack relies on mechanics already released in base game and other packs. We have duels in RoM. We have sword fight animations in get famous. We have odd job missions in get a mermaid (I forget the real name). We have event cards in Jungle adventure. We have piecing stuff together in stranger town. We have card playing in outdoor retreats. Heck, we even have star wars costumes in base game! If this was something the community wanted, a modder would have done it already. But they absolutely would have added a born with the force trait. How can you have a star wars pack without the force? How can you have a pack called "journey to another planet" and NOT have sims go there in space ships? Why does EA think we get excited about our sim meeting some character? Just why.

Okay so two things: I recall this one Sims 4 show EA made where they had popular KZbinrs come together and then kept complaining and tearing them down for the storytelling and stuff they did in such a limited time when their trailers hardly convey a story. Secondly, Sims 3 had World Adventures and while it was different from most Sims stuff I always enjoyed it. Why? I could make my own tombs with cheats, after years I still hadn't fully finished all the worlds, always discovering new secrets, always the risk of dying or getting hurt. All major gaming companies are these major corporations who could care any less about their employees and fans. Just the fastest way to make a quick bug, which doesn't work well with games. You can see it when art doesn't have passion in it, when a product doesn't have passion in it. Will I buy a couch when I see it can easily fall apart? No! So why do the same with Sims 4. Many of the people defending this expansion also seem to be newer players, not all but many, often young, players. And I don't blame them, they will likely see someday but I get how it can be difficult.

I've been playing the Sims since I was little and I'm so disheartened by this pack announcement. I preordered Sims 4, but only started playing a few years ago (once they improved the base game a bit and I got a computer that could handle the massive amount of mods I *needed* to play.) I've collected every pack that's been released besides knitting (I agree with you- missed opportunity for hobbies expansion.) But then... I started watching your channel about a month ago lmao. Since then I've really struggled to play the Sims 4 and I actually reinstalled the Sims 3 last week. My mom threw out all my Sims 2 expansions when I moved to college or you know I'd be playing that instead! TLDR: played a lot of sims 4 for a couple years, started watching Cindy and now I can't bring myself to touch it. I like realistic gameplay AND supernatural sims. In theory, at least. To me, The Sims is supposed to be cartoony and not too realistic. It's supposed to be mouldable. (If you ask me, I actually miss The Sims Makin' Magic! 😂) And I'm going to say something that goes a little bit against the grain -- but do take into account I haven't bought a single Sims game since The Sims 3 Ambitions -- and it's that, aside from the obvious cash grab this pack is, a pack with a theme we don't like is not the problem. It's how small and contained they all are. By which I mean you KNOW this pack isn't going to include anything that could possibly be used in everyday gameplay, regardless of style. The feeling I get with The Sims 4 is if you don't play the neighbourhood that came with the pack you miss out on a lot of the features, which can't be said for TS2 at least. My family are Star Trek fans, and in Sims 3, with mods (along with the Into the Future EP), I was able to recreate my favorite Srar Trek themes, without having an EP with just that aspect. People easily themed out Star Wars then, without sacrificing all the gameplay elements that were implemented by that point (many of which still have been left out of Sims 4). And even my desire to create a Star Trek World can also be done in Sims 2, because one can create worlds in both Sims 2 and Sims 3. Whereas with all the Sims games, prior to Sims 4, I have purchased all content (with the exception of Katy Perry's Sweet Treats), I only have just the base game of Sims 4 (and only because it was given for free on the PS 4). I think I have played a total of 20 hours, and cannot make it past 45 minutes each time playing. I am a freelance writer/journalist, who draws inspiration from Sims gameplay and watching many Sims 2 and Sims 3 machinimas (on rare occasion I will see a decent Sims 4 one). I play Sims 1 when I feel the need to set my difficulty bar higher, Sims 3, when I want to utilize the open world aspect to play out scenes in my novel series, and Sims 2, when I want to have it all, fun, challenge, and in-depth emotional character developed storylines. Sims 4 cannot even top Sims 1. I do watch others play Sims 4, and since it has come out, I have not seen any gameplay that would change my mind on Sims 4. The deal breakers for me include: babies are objects, emotions are too easily changed from one interaction to the next (no cohesive personalities), no usable cars, toddlers can walk (what happened to the crawling stage of development?), toddlers can be independent (teaching themselves to talk with an oversized stuffed animal, tucking themselves into bed, can grab food items off of counters or even higher places - where is the realism?), senseless deaths (how many die from emotions irl?), the inability to create worlds, no individual bios or ties to the Sims Lore, lack of 4th wall breaking character immersion, and there are so many more, but the BIGGEST deal breaker of all is the ABSENCE of STORY PROGRESSION (the very tool that allows me to draw inspiration when I get writer's block)! At first, I did not buy into Sims 4, because it was devoid toddlers, so I kept my eyes open for when they finally were implemented, and I almost broke down then, buying into the series, but watched gameplay first, and so my disappointment continued on, I watch the trailers for all new content, watch gameplay reviews, and even watch some of my friends from the Sims 2 & 3 communities play, and my disappointments continue to rise. With this Star Wars pack, EA is keeping consistent to expand their games along with my growing disappointments! So, you are definitely not alone! 😨

This is why I'm so thankful for you and the handful of other ts2 simmers. Ts2 and ts3 truly deserve the limelight for being shining examples of creativity and freedom and most of all: COMPETENCE. I hate that this gamepack has technically made it so that Star Wars is now canon within sims lore. Like, if my sims can travel to Batuu that means they literally exist in the Star Wars Universe. I've played the whole sims series too, grew up on the first one. And also own all TS3 packs except Katy Perry Sweet Treats. ;) I pretty much feel the same. I love the sims and have invested so much in it. Didn't buy TS4 until Cats&Dogs because of how much it lacks. Then they released My First Pet Stuff and I felt stupid. I do love some of the features TS4 has to offer and feel like I'm always waiting and hoping for it to become a more complete and better game. Packs add very little and there is so much missing still 6 years in. Right now my game is also filled with annoying bugs and not everything I payed for is actually functional. Plus all visual glitches, like floating trees/birds/fish/waterfall/trash in the worlds we cannot edit and correct. I don't really see anything new other than some visuals in the trailer. Like we already have sword fights with Get Famous - where are the new animations? Plus it seems like its just part of the fitness skill - not a new seperate skill. We got robotics with Discover University and aliens with Get to Work. Can already play cards, I have those tables in almost every bar in my save. They reuse so much all the time. Looks like they recoloured the wall paper from Jungle Adventures (Stucco'nStone&another one). The archway is also the window from JA called "ancient window". Many decorations and hairs are basegame. Like what's actually new? The world with yet another bar, a few Star Wars items and costumes? It makes me soooo mad when they don't even add much unique gameplay and items. It's beyond cheap for such a financially successful game. And why would my sims want to bring back these "new" items to like Willow Creek when they don't fit the surroundings? I bet EA did this because of advertisement plus it's much cheaper to add to an existing game than build a new one. This is likely also why they sprinkle out very little content over many packs and years. Instead of having TS3 store they add more and smaller packs and I guess it makes EA even more money. And sims fans in general are loyal and addicted regardless. It's not like I myself haven't been one of them. I believe the sims team is very hard working, well educated, talented and know their diverse fan base very well, but are restricted for many reasons. Mainly because of EA:s insane business ambitions. Sadly this probably works amazingly well for EA and them making their precious billions. I mean I don't even care if they add Star Wars to TS4 if there are those who want it and it doesn't interfere with normal gameplay. But for crying out loud fix the core game first and what most fans have been begging for since the beginning. And if EA is going to sell pretty expensive packs, let them add enough ACTUAL NEW FEATURES. :P I'm sorry my english is bad, and also no shade if you think TS4 and this pack is great. Man I wrote way too much, lol.

I thought, maybe they want more Star Wars fans who wouldn't be interested in the Sims otherwise to play the game. So I conducted a little survey in my house. I asked my dad (50 years old, hardcore sw fan, mainly of the older movies) and my little brother (16 years old, also a big sw fan, mainly on the newer movies) if they'd play a Star Wars themed Sims pack. They both laughed at the idea and said they have no interest in that whatsoever cause there already are so many better sw games. So. What in the heck is EA doing? :)

Same, my brother burst into maniacal laughter when I showed him the trailer. He said that both the Sims community and the Star Wars community will feel somewhat betrayed and not really catered to at the same time. It's mind-boggling how EA thought this was a good idea (regardless of how much money Disney potentially offered them for this atrocious crossover).

Yeah, they tried to do something (what exactly I have no idea) and it clearly backfired. And I actually l o v e playing with occults and I'd really like the pack if it was just a broad "space" theme that made aliens better, gave us a livable neighbourhood in Sixam etc. But this? No thanks.
