Thanks Howard!!!!! I was very curious about how to lubricate it, and I didn't even know it tilted like that. I didn't have a clue about the thread tensioner or foot pressure control knob either!!! Thank you so much for the lesson!!! We must be long lost brothers..... who else keeps hot sauce in their sewing room???? Ha ha ha!!!!

Well Chris, welcome to the world of "Thread Injecting " as they call it on Hammock Forums. I bought a new Singer a few years ago to make some gear for hammocking and camping.......Take care, Bluefin.

cabotbluegill -- Hey Howard- I have the plate. I found it. I figured out how to clip it in there so it stays. I bought the pre made plastic bobbins... I played around with it tonight. The only issue I'm having is sometimes my bottom thread gets "doubled up" some kinda way when I remove the piece from the foot it's kinda tangled.. not every time , just sometimes. Mine has a big wing nut on the bottom that holds it in the case. Do these fit in the wood cabinets I always see the black ones in?
@cabotbluegill6 жыл бұрын
Some times when that happens it is a matter of wiggling the hand wheel which changes that position of the needle. There are cabinets that it will fit but a bit harder to find as I said that is a 3/4 machine and would need a 3/4 cabinet the other 3/4machines were 99 and 128s . With your talent you could convert a full cabinet to work

Thank you for the lesson in tension, Howard. I know more today than I did yesterday. I pulled my old machine the other day to fix the pocket on the wifes coat. Worked as good as a new one.. I have to fix the electric cord though. Thank you for the video, Howard

I would really like to learn more about using a sewing machine. I do remember using one as a kid at Grandma's. I would like to use one to learn to make my own gear such as light weight tarps or even a hammock. Good tutorial.

These older machines are the way to go for that type of work they can be found very cheap and have industrial quality . There are all steel

@@cabotbluegill A bit of an update. I saw on old machine for sell in a neighboring town for 10 bucks. I tried to get my son who goes to college there to stop and pick it up..My wife then said "Why, My Mom has one you can have"...so hopefully one day this week I can go pick it up! Thanks for the inspiration to get one!

@@LeeRalph100 I do not to mean to sound like a know it all trust me in the beginning i made a ton of mistakes getting these old machines to sew when in the end 98 percent of the time the only problem was needles and tension. I would take stuff apart that shound not have been touched lol

It is a 66 15 or 127 most likely if it has a bobbin like this one it's a 66 or 99 if it has a shuttle it's a 27 or 28 and if it has the bigger bobbins it's a 15 most like ly
