Claire I share your views on getting married young. I met my husband at 22, married at 25, now at 35 I feel like I am a whole new person. What I excited me then is different, my needs are different. It does not mean that young marriages don't work, but I tell my single friends over 30 that they are actually going to make way better decisions when it comes to a future partner and will also be more aware in their relationships which in turn means a healthier relationship.

@@kyarisiimacathy7520 not as drastically different as between 20s and 30s, though, as the life and mental gap become smaller the older you get: a 11-year-old and a 20-year-old are at very different spaces both mentally and in life; the growth/age gap slightly reduces between a 21-year-older and 30-year-old but it is still quite big, but when you slide down the thirties, the gap reduces drastically, like a 35-year-old and a 45-year-old (or one in their 40s and another in their 50s) share a lot of similarities, from how they see life to what they now value in life to how they move around life.

I’m sorry I have to really disagree with this. When I was 21 I asked my supervisor (much older married man) which girls got married first, if it was the pretty ones or well behaved ones or what. And he said it was the mature ones. For any young girl reading this, marriage and many things in life are about maturity, wisdom, planning and not age, otherwise we wouldn’t have any young billionaires or happily married young couples. I see that a lot now that I’m married. I got married young, & now I see so many of my unmarried age mates coming to the realization of the things that I realized way earlier not bse I was so pretty or lucky but bse I was a seeker. So seek maturity, seek wisdom, seek truth, know yourself early, you don’t have to wait till ur 29 to know who u r & guess what, that self discovery journey never stops. Ask the right questions, prepare urself for what u hope for. It’s not news that the options reduce as u grow, that may never change so how do u prepare urself for that time? There’s a season for everything & sadly sometimes u can miss it. In life you have to be intentional about some things, it’s not about luck, it’s about preparation and being deliberate. If u want to get married young u can, and u can choose the right partner. Yes it’s possible to make a wrong marriage choice at 20 but it’s still possible to make a worse choice at 30. At least earlier u have more time to make it right. Find people who have gone ahead of u and made the right choices and let them guide u. Plan ahead, Don’t fall for the deceptions of your time. Most of all invest in ur relationship with God, in a true authentic relationship with Jesus as ur personal lord and instructor. I promise u won’t mess up.

While it is true that growth, maturity, wisdom and all other attributes that make for choosing a marriage partner when you’re younger are not linear, it is also disingenuous to claim this as a norm. The truth of the matter is that most people arrive at these attributes later in life. Yours is but an exception to the norm. Biologically (scientific evidence), the frontal cortex of the brain whose role is decision making, reasoning, personality expression, maintaining social appropriateness, and other complex cognitive behaviors only matures in your mid-twenties. So there’s lots of truth to waiting it out until later in life, to make pivotal decisions such as marriage

There is no ideal age. You can get it right at 23 or 29. You can get it wrong at 24 or 30. And the thing about hindsight, you don't only look at decisions you made but who you were at that time. Give yourself enough grace for the person you were at 23, you did what you thought was best.

First of all it's ok and normal to feel a certain type of way when you see people around you in relationships and having kids if it's something you want for yourself. I mention this because sometimes single people feel like they have to prove that they feel nothing about these situations. To prove how happy they are or that they are happier single. There should not be a debate on who is happier because happiness is from within us at the end of the day not in singleness or marriage. What's important is that you then get yourself back together. Easier said than done at a certain age I know.

Please don't allow social media to dictate how single you are. Marriage has its own set of issues. Enjoy being single and live your life to the fullest. Single, divorced, married, cohabitating, situationshipping, parenting.. whatever it is, your wellbeing and relationship with yourself is still, and will always be the most important thing. How are you relating with and loving You? Are you getting to know you, understanding who you're evolving to become? Falling in love with you over and over again? Each time I see couples match together, I always tell myself that the Lord is my shepherd 😂 And ever since I realised that I have got different goals and desires in life, nothing brings me down. Because I made a choice by myself. I postponed child baring and marriage by myself. I chose to first settle my parents before I get married and have children. I vowed to do this at a very young age. So I have grown up focusing on my goal and I thank God that am done with all that I wanted to do for them. I knew it would take me much longer if I was to do it while staying in the country so I had to sacrifice the happiness for only a limited little time and get done with it. And by his grace only my one Yr kyeyo savings solved them. I also want to thank my God that I didn't get married at early age because am sure I would by now be a very miserable housewife somewhere or be a single mum by now. Staying alone has really opened my inner eyes and am so grateful to that.

Recently, a certain man, on a date, boldly described to me how women above 35 years should be treated as cases of emergency... I am glad you had this very insightful talk. 👏 It is important that people get into relationships not because they are lonely (which is a state emptiness not aloneness), not because of society's narratives, but because one is self aware, know what they want and has found a person who complements their being and they would like to.spend the rest of their lives with. Singleness is such a beautiful time to get to know yourself more, and fall in love with yourself. I'd encourage taking on courses or activities that help you become your best version and just be you as there is true fulfilment in that. But also, prayerfully believe for a good partner- for every Good and Perfect gift comes from above.

I love what Clare had to say on the friendship after marriage. Natural selection or not the foundations of friendship are tested most when you make fundamental changes in your life like marriage. It's important to maintain abit of your individuality even when you get married.I have single friends who understand me a whole lot better than the married people. And men don't give that entire sense of companionship in a marriage. You need your friends! This is by far my best episode! Sooooo much truth. 👏 👏 👏

On the point of 'natural selection of friends'. I see and get where both Claire and Prim were coming from but it actually can happen that naturally the nature of friendships change when you get married and have kids and not in a bad way. Time, interests, priorities can change and naturally the friendship loses a bit of touch in some areas. That being said a conscious effort needs to made to maintain these friendships when our lives evolve and if the friendship loses touch, sometimes it means that that's where that journey ends and it's not necessarily personal.

Single is the default status but relationships are necessary.. Truthfully, some people are happy when single and others are happy when in a relationship. Ofcourse, being born single, living your whole life single is just not an ideal. Thank you for the show... I love the confidence babe holding a 🎤 has... She is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Happily Single it is. 😀 Also friends who are married should learn to accomodate their single friends, mostly the ones who are not toxic.

I love the aspects of standards when Phiona says. I guess you become more selective with energies you entertain. There's too much pressure, there's too much to internalise on your own. I love love...

That's so true, friendships shouldn't end because of one is in a relationship. Different friends bring kinds of help, just because I can't help in a certain situation doesn't mean I'm not good for you.

@Gracielanera there's still time to reconnect and those who are willing to and understand you will be with you regardless of the time you haven't been in touch.
