tbf the thing about it, is that we see the morality in recent actions and i have been noticing it mroe and more, like we say never forget about holocaust, the 9\11 and alot of other things, but then people read about let's say the mongols, (early) russians, persians, roman genocides/attrocities and most people (including me) "oh, peopel were ruthless back then" and move on, it's quite funny how aggitated people can get over the history over the last 100 years but then have no strong feelings about the history that precided it, quite an interesting phenomenon imo

People don't seem to understand that this war is a culmination of 70 odd years of cyclical violence, it wasn't unprovoked as many on the right claim and, attacks by Hamas on civilians can't just be blown off with a glib "what did you expect?" as many idiots on the left are saying

That's why you instead take a look at historical facts and make an appropriate judgement - in this case, of a settler-colonial project that ethnically cleansed a people from a territory, stole their land, later occupied them, and most recently imposed an apartheid regime on them, with all the expected resulting outcome of bouts of violence from all sides.

Your intro is the most sober and rational take I've seen in the last 6 days of discussing the Israeli-Arab 'issue'. The brutal, bloody reality is what Hamas did was beyond reprehensible, and we are now seeing Israel abandon all forms of restraint. I will not be surprised if after several years have passed, Israel as a collective looks back at the likely biblical, bloody outcome of what's going to happen to Gaza with a mixture of resignation and revulsion at what they ended up doing in order to deal with the "Hamas problem." We're already entering day 7, and it is not looking pretty.

It's crazy how similar the situation is to that of Kosovo, particularly right now. The Ottoman Empire screws everything and everyone up, different groups of people fight over land in the aftermath after the Ottomans, the groups do terrible stuff to each other in turn over and over, one group takes it WAYYYYY too far and then gets bombed. One notable recurring theme is that revenge through atrocities and genocide does not get you sympathy, it usually just gets you more bombs. You can't say your enemies are monsters if you become an even worse monster yourself

It is in no way prophetic. It's words that can be interpreted broadly and are not that affected by age like stating a definitv time, or naming the enemies. The lack of specificity makes it able to put of non fitting times to "it just didn't happen jet". Also it basically did already happen with the crusades so i applying it today is redundant and shows the lack of specificity.

It was also probably the best time for Palestinians to have asked for sovereignty, and accept the land that Israel would have given up. “The line between good and evil runs through every human heart”. That is not to say that we cannot judge where the justice lies in a conflict, or that *on balance* the actions and intents of the participants do not matter. Only that the people involved are human. I do not have to argue that every participant in a cause is a saint in order to support the cause…. and more than I have to argue that ever supporter is evil in order to reject it.

I really like your videos, but with your voice sorta trailing off often, they're hard to understand without me needing to raise the volume a scary amount. I don't think it's a mic issue though. Could you maybe speak up with a more assertive tone of voice? I hope I'm not coming off insulting.

When it comes to israel - arab conflict there is a lot of argument from both sides, but for me persobaly as LGBT person its not even a choice. On one side of the border, my existence is accepted, on the other i face prison or death. Therefore to who i should support is no-brainer That being saidy i feel for civilians on both sides

Honestly the way I prefer to look at this conflict is just from the pure military perspective. Ignoring all the absurdly ugly politics much like when looking at the Invasion of Iraq, the six day war was a military master stroke on seizing and holding aerial supremacy. The sheer efficiency of the IDF ground crews is quite frankly so shocking it deserves to be studied in the same way the US military studied the logistics of the Ringling brothers

You dont burn your landlords house down when you live in they're apartment building.
@RaptorJesus
@RaptorJesus Жыл бұрын
You might if that landlord, a decade ago, broke into the apartment, forced everyone who originally lived there into the basement, keeps cutting off the power and water to said basement, while said basement is crumbling and they won't even let you repair it. The facts are that Israel treats Palestinians like second-class citizens, and has turned Gaza into a mixture of an old-school ghetto and prison camp. Does this mean organizations like Hamas should strike civilians? No, of course not. But Israel shouldn't be following a policy of lebensraum with their own wehrbauer either. Israel is the one who has created the conditions that make people *that* desperate.

One issue i have in this current conflict that i hope i share with others is that my opinion don't fit the boxes. I researched this stuff and continually do, and as such I find both majority/loud groups to be flatly wrong, and that my Take on the situation as a result would likely insult 2 groups that never researched more than the feed told them. I find the lack of critical thinking in this conflict to be alarming as no matter what "group" you associate yourself with you have been fed bullshit by your more vocal people. I often feel like everyone in the world is stupid or insane and I am left to watch the world burn down for the most stupidest of reason...no I ain't advocating conspiracy theory,s I am saying I am sick of pro participation trash pushing things like "Hamas never did X" when Hamas has absolutely wanted pepole to know they did that or "Isreal is not doing Y" without ever checked if that claim is true or the context or anything. While of course sitting at home doing nothing or sending cash to a black hole they hope leads to the right place.

You did a fantastic job, in regards to this conflict being a amateur historian I knew there was gonna be religious bloodshed Many of my friends blindly are choosing sides and making reasons but no matter how you cut it there’s clear technological differences and numbers, and this land has been the most highly contested piece of real estate ever. Both sides are going to do some bad stuff in my book…
