(Slight spoilers for the video) I feel like I have a lot of thoughts regarding the ending I didn’t get to express very well in the video, I think my brain melted around the 3 hour mark from all the insanity. I’m still going back and forth on it and I’m not really sure whether I like the ending or not. I think I’ll do a review of the game soon and give my opinions regarding everything then. I did still really love this game regardless though. A lot of you guys have requested games to LP in the future too and I appreciate all the requests! I’ll let you guys know what I decide to LP next in the next couple weeks. Also I’ll try to keep you guys posted on when I do the V3 postgame live streams too, I’m planning on doing them on KZbin rather than Twitch as well so you can just keep an eye out on here for that. I’m going out of town for Christmas and won’t be able to do any gameplay capture videos so if I post over the next couple weeks it’ll probably only be either the review for the game and/or my reaction to that prediction video I made forever ago. Basically, I might not be posting a whole lot over the next couple weeks but I don’t want any of you to think I’m dead or anything. Anyways, thanks to everyone who watched this Let’s Play, I had a blast!

The actual 5th wall gets broken when characters start manipulating stuff that should be out of their control, even then, it's the creator that does that, not the actual character, unless you install an AI into them that gives them that power, but that could be dangerous as it could break the final wall more easily if there are no set boundaries

Another interesting fun fact about Tsumugi's character, its subtle, but if you replay the game knowing Tsumugi is the mastermind, you'll notice that she doesn't once show genuine emotions throughout the game in her sprites. While other characters emotions are clear, such as anger and depression and crying, Tsumugi gives the same limited expressions in which none of them reaches her eyes, which remain cold and unchanging in expression. This is especially interesting in Japanese culture as they focus a lot on eyes when it comes to expressing emotion when compared to the western world which focuses more on the mouth. Part of why Japanese emotes focus more on the eyes with things like ^_^ rather than :).

What's nice about this ending is just what Shuichi said, that we don't know if Tsumugi lied or told the truth.There are a lot of contradictions that I will list here: - Tsumugi could have easily forged those audition tapes. She could have cosplayed as Shuichi, Kaede and Kaito and said all those things. We even see the wooden floor in her ultimate lab that are from the tapes. It is also filmed from an awkward angle so we only can see the floor. - The same could easily be done with Rantaro's video. - When looking back at the beginning, before they received their fake memories, Shuichi clearly introduced himself as Shuichi Saihara, so why would they need to bleep out his name in the audition tape? - Furthermore, Kaede tells us in the same scene that she was forcibly kidnapped, and it made her remember how "rotten" the world is. Doesn't sound like a peaceful world without any war or conflict doesn't it? There are many more clues that clearly contradicts Tsumugi's story about the world, but in the end, we don't know. It's all up to the players perspective. Anyway, I think this is the perfect ending. It truly captures the "Truth and Lies" theme and even makes the player (you and me) fall into despair. There are many people I have talked with who really hate this ending, aka, people who have fallen into despair. I was one of those people at first, but then I analyzed the ending more and now I really appreciate it! But after all, the message behind this game is beautiful. Even if something is a lie, even if Danganronpa is fiction, it has the power to change people. Even if you know by heart that the whole series is fiction, the characters still warms your heart and has changed you as a person, and that is the true meaning behind the game. Also, since the game is the 53rd iteration, there is A LOT more room for new games (between Danganronpa 10-53) while not making anything noncanon. V3 will still be the last game, timeline wise, but sating that there is not any room for more games IS A LIE! Sorry about all the rambling, but I really wanted to tell you how I felt about the games ending and what I got out from it. tldr; There is more to the ending that meets the eye
@eric7798
@eric7798 6 жыл бұрын
I disagree only with Rantaro's video because if it was the truth, one of the next games could just have him as a protaganist, don't you think? (furthermore, he's also a fan's favorite) That way it'd mean the video of him was real.
@Karlthuluu
@Karlthuluu 6 жыл бұрын
True, but speculation wise I would like it if Tsumugi forged the video to manipulate Rantaro's actions or make the game more interesting. Also, if we did have a new Danganronpa with him as protagonist, wouldn't we already know how it would end? It's an interesting thought tho.
@cah137-y4s
@cah137-y4s 6 жыл бұрын
For me, there are two HUGE contradictions that make me absolutely convinced Tsumugi was lying about the outside world. One of them happens during the investigation in Chapter 1: the scene with Kaede and Tsumugi in the bathroom. In that scene, Tsumugi breaks out in cospox because she attempts to cosplay as Kaede...but wait, didn't she spend an entire section of the final trial insisting that her fellow students are just fictional characters? Shouldn't she have been able to cosplay Kaede just fine? Also, she asks Kaede to turn around so she has time to change...but as we see in Case 6, Tsumugi can literally change clothes _and appearances_ faster than the human eye can follow, and has no problem doing so in front of a live TV audience. So what's up with that? The only idea that makes sense to me is that the entire "cospox" thing was fake (because seriously, how the fuck can you be allergic to cosplaying as real people?!), and it was all a setup to convince Shuichi and the others that Hope's Peak must be fictional because she can cosplay as DR1 and DR2 characters. The second actually happens all the way back in the prologue. There are actually three small details that add up to this one. First, as the OP pointed out, Kaede and Shuichi both introduced themselves by their character names right off the bat; and since the audition tape suggests that "Shuichi Saihara" wasn't Shuichi's real name, that would suggest something sketchy is going on. Then there's the kidnapping; aside from what the OP pointed out about remembering how "rotten" the world was (sweet catch, BTW, I totally missed that!), why would they have to kidnap students who'd _auditioned_ for the show? Remember, this is a show everyone in the world watches; Team Danganronpa would probably spend *months* hyping up the new season, promoting the new characters in order to get people excited (you know, like Spike Chunsoft did). This isn't just suspicious, it's flat-out bad marketing on Team DR's part. And finally, that flashback during the epilogue showing the characters being excited? That scene doesn't happen. It's not like the scene just went on longer than expected; the scene of Kaede and the others being happy would have to occur BETWEEN two other lines of dialogue. So either there's some _Zero Time Dilemma_ levels of camera fuckery happening, or- as Kokichi Oma would say- "IT'S A LIE!" And honestly, I feel this would be the _perfect_ culmination of the truth and lies theme that the rest of the story is building up. Having *the twist itself* ultimately turn out to be a lie to be exposed in the next game? _That_ would be a surprise for the ages. But hey, I guess we'll ultimately just have to wait until the next game or anime to be sure.
@MerriBelle
@MerriBelle 6 жыл бұрын
I agree with those points but Kaede talking about how rotten the world does kinda sound like the her on the audition tape. Oh another thing about Rantaro. Why did he remember the ultimate hunt before everyone else? Like I do not remember him mentioning it on the survivor perk, so why would he remember that without a flash back light? Oh also Rantaro clearly was able to tell that this was going to be a killing game in the prologue. But if everyone had auditioned for it why wouldn't anyone catch on that it was that besides him?
@Karlthuluu
@Karlthuluu 6 жыл бұрын
Rantaro knowing about the ultimate hunt was because of the survivor perk. He doesn't mention it in the video but it is written in the survivor perk pad. It says "If you don't believe me I will predict something: The first thing you will remember is the ultimate hunt." which means that Rantaro only knew of the name, not what it actually was, and that's why he asked if anyone knew about it.

Seriously, the theme to this entire game was "lies." We're never sure about this ending and it's legitimacy. Some fans got up in arms about this ending, taking all the lies at face-value and not questioning them whatsoever. We had a single character that did nothing but hammer in the idea that we shouldn't be 100% sure about anything being told to us.

That's the crux of it. It's not satisfying, it's frustrating. It's tossing a bone of truth in with the piles of lies, and expecting you to come up with the true narrative yourself. And when people in the fanbase don't even agree on what that truth even IS, how is a constructive dialogue supposed to happen?

What some people miss is that when this game refer to the audience, they don't talk about us. They talk about the audience in *their* universe. So this game doesn't berate us for being fans at all. A proof of this is the fact that Team Danganronpa doesn't really exist in *our* world. They're fictional. They're only real in *that* world. If they are referring to us here, they should have made the production company "Spike Chunsoft". In short, the game broke the 4th wall but kept the 5th wall on, I guess. XD I wanna know what their outside world looks like to be honest. Despite it being "peaceful" compared to the outside world in the Hope's Peak Saga, it seems like it's in and of itself a different kind of dystopian society.

Looking at all of those things, I would say the world might actually be peaceful but since they are teenagers, they rebel against it. Team Danganronpa saw this and started Danganronpa as a way to satisfy them. Like in "Purge", to keep society happy, they started organising killing games and since it was bringing huge profit and popularity, they continued it, each time with a bigger budget. First game was at studio aranged as a school, second was on an island, maybe Danganronpa 34 really was in space, but it seems like at some point they set up at one place - The Ultimate Academy for Gifted Juveniles, isolated from the outside world. In my country, there are things called "patostreams", which basically are livestreams on which people drink alcohol, swear, sometimes even beat their friends and family and people, especially young, really enjoy watching them, because they seem funny. Also a lot of teenagers watch vulgar streamers more than cultural ones since they seem cooler. Maybe this is where our world goes. One day something unthinkable might be completely normal. Since more nudity is allowed, vulgar language is acceptable, sometimes not even censored then maybe, one day, fighters will come back to the death fights, maybe Danganronpa is our future. Well, at least we will be prepared, in some way.
@DiddyBohlen

People also tend to ignore the fact that it was literally Danganronpa 53. People became so obsessed with it that games and anime turned into a reality show with brainwashing. I saw the ending as a way of saying to not overdo something to the point where it goes too far. It was a reminder to both the developers and fans that there needs to be an end.

I always tend to frame it myself as V3 isn't Canon to dr1-3, but dr1-3 are canon to V3 in some form. I personally tend to assume the events of the previous games etc did actually have been and time has passed and this is some project by someone out there. Frankly I could see a lot of AIs involved in running things and maybe Monica being one of the original creators but now it's mostly AI's running things on their own.

Fun fact: This ending seems rather blunt, but when you examine things closely, it begins to fall apart. Yes, that’s right, it’s _all lies_. 1. Shuichi and the others *remember their names during the prologue*, even though it’s implied that they originally have different names. 2. Kaede and Shuichi originally *clearly remember being kidnapped*. 3. The prologue also shows that *the events don’t line up the way Tsumugi says they do*. Essentially, something is *clearly incorrect* about how the cast entered this killing game. Also, *we can’t be sure the cospox is real*. That could be a lie too. We can clearly see Tsumugi is skilled enough to make cospox seem real in that short a span of time. Finally, there’s that line about this all being a giant copy. Essentially, there’s more here than we don’t know. There were a lot of lies mixed in with the truth, and it’s up to us to guess what is real or fiction. ...well, at least until the next game.

I have a theory. The theory is: In DR:V3 the killing game takes place in a VR Simulation like in DR2. Hints that it's all a VR Simulation: - The outfit change à la Sailor Moon in the Prologue. You all remember Monomi turning that chicken into a moo-cow? That's it. It was out of this world, and it had a reason to be like that. The Sailor Moon transformation? Of course it's a hint. It can't just be Comic Relief. - The 'transfer student' motive. It just seems so silly and irrealistic - what was Monokuma trying to accomplish, there? They would have tried the ritual, failed... and then what? Nothing would have happened. But think about it from a VR perspective: you take the revived student data, put it back into the killing game and... ta-da! There's a wild card in the group - if it was someone who was killed, he would be wary of everyone and probably try to kill someone to escape and avoid being killed again. If it was a killer - imagine the tension in the group. It would have been really *interesting* for an audience watching: we would have found it interesting, wouldn't we? - Korekiyo's execution. I know the execution are rarely realistic; but those in DR1 were, if you don't count the ending of Mondo's execution, of course. In DR2, they were crazy and all over the place, and that's ok because they were in a Simulation. But this is the first time that we have an execution that keeps punishing someone's soul *after* they died. How the hell would that have worked in a reality tv show? CGI, maybe. But it just really bugged me. - Miu's VR World. In a world so technologically advanced, one would think that a VR simulator like that would have been much more futuristic and realistic. But it's kinda retro in its style. If it were a simulator inside a simulator, it makes sense that it would have had to require a lot less 'ram' to be run. It's a program inside a really complicated program - they would have had to 'cut' the consume. I also have another theory that kinda says that there is no reality tv show either... but I gotta play/watch again before writing that one.

Actually, if you think about it, all those files in Shuichi's Ultimate Lab we're from the past 52 killing games. No seriously, count them, there are exactly 52 files. Maki stated that the first few files were illustrations while the rest are photographs. Technically, yes, all these characters are fiction, but it is "True Fiction" in DanganRonpa 1-3 (I'd say it's 1-10) and some time then, DanganRonpa transferred to "Ultimate Real Fiction" in the earlier stages of the show. (hence my estimation of the transition happening during DR11) If it really has no connection to the first three, then why is it clumped with the other 49 files?

The message of how fiction can change people's thoughts and feeling is conveyed so well and considering how by the end of the trial I went from wanting more Danganronpa to being totally content if this was the last one, it did its job pretty well. Even if all of Danganronpa is just fiction, the stories still effected people which doesn't make them any less real and that's pretty cool. If this is truly Kodakas last DR, damn good job to him!

Spoilers for the end of the game below. The audition tapes are potentially fake, or they aren't, the entire game works on dichotomies like this. If you replay the prologue, the characters understand who Monokuma is and what Danganronpa is, but it didn't seem as though they consented to participate. So in that case, how were the audition videos created at all? Tsumigi's cosplay lol. It can be argued that the students of Danganronpa V3's previous selves are now fiction, since not even they know who they once were. Therefore, Tsumugi can not cosplay as the characters as they are now, but she could cosplay as their previous selves. If you inspect Tsumugi's lab you'll also find the same area of floor used in the audition videos, as well as cameras. Based on this evidence it's pretty safe to suggest that they were either kidnapped for the show, or believed the show was acted and sent in different auditions. I'd just like to say that although there are many concrete facts we can boil down about V3, the message it left us with is a pretty uplifting one. There are many parallels in the game like fact or fiction, truth and lies, or hope and despair. But it's not about which side you're a part of. Whether it's black or white isn't what's important, what matters is what these actions effect. These things aren't black and white like we're lead to believe. A fictional world is just as good as a real one if it can bring people enjoyment or tell a story that we want people to see. Anyways I've rambled enough, I wish you good luck with your character analysis videos, I think there's a lot more to talk about than you may believe at first.

Okay... I feel obligated to make a comment to clear the misconceptions some people have that make them dislike the ending. >"DR1&2 being fiction cheapens their impact! This ruined the old games!" The initial claim was that DRV3 was a whole new universe/setting. Of course, fans would expect an "it's all actually connected" plot twist, with which they played with in chapter 5&6. However, in the end it was actually true that DRV3 was set in a different continuity. Besides that, though, I see no problem in DR1 & 2 being called "fictional", especially given this ending's powerful "fiction can change the world" message. It literally changes nothing about the previous entries. They are the same story as they always were, and we played them knowing they were fiction. >"This ending is insulting its fans by portraying us as these crazy spectators!" No. We are not the DRV3 audience in the game. We are playing a videogame, while the DRV3 audience is watching brainwashed REAL PEOPLE kill each other. One is way more morally questionable than the other. Besides, the DRV3 audience was watching everything through Keebo's eyes all along, while we certainly didn't (for most of the game, anyway). Sure, there are some jabs at real fanbases (and what happens to overly-milked franchises), but you're not supposed to feel insulted by Shuichi wanting to end a reality-show featuring a live killing game. >"This ending was basically "it was all a dream", what a terrible twist!" Well, not really. These were real flesh-and-blood people who got brainwashed. Their personalities and memories were fabricated, but their experience certainly was not. They still had free will. And most importantly, they ACTUALLY DIED, permanent deaths at that (which is better than DR3's anime's ending). I might have missed some but that's all I want people to consider before hating on this ending. You are still free to dislike it for what it is, though. I personally enjoyed it a lot. EDIT: Also, I don't know if it's because Weeby was confused about the Hope's Peak saga being a show too, but thereare some confused comments about that, so I'll clarify here. 2:41:00 "Until it transcended games and anime to become this, the Ultimate Real Fiction" The Hope's Peak saga was just games and anime in the V3 canon. Nothing was retconned about those games/anime. They were not shows with auditioners like V3.

To add on to your first point. It's also possible that in the universe of DR1 and DR2 that V3's killing game happened and they went with the whole meteors destroying the earth plot. Also to be honest at least this ending has a shred of hope to it. Since if they managed to beat the mastermind Himiko, Shucihi, and Maki would still be the last surviving humans, and I just cant see them lol hoping there way out of that.

Asdf, I'd like to comment on the portrayal part. "One foot in fiction, another in reality" is telling us to not focus on the world of danganronpa, but to take what we learned there and make our own better. I'm not good at explaining things, but he was portraying us not as psychotic or crazy, but too involved with that fictional world and not our own, much like the audience in V3.

But if fictional characters call them self inside fiction fictional character due those fictional characters creating a fictional killinggame in a fictional killingame than what message can have any meaning when the meaning itself projects itself towards the fiction inside the fiction as truth? There is no meaning for us as the player as we are only the observer of the fictional setting made by fictional people so fictional people could observe it? Than there is no meaning for everything else if all past DR games/titels/novels are also just (ingame world logic) fictional entertaiment for fictional people who love suffering and happyness of all the characters. It means there is no point for us if Chiaki, Naegi & Hinata etc are also just crazy people or fiction inside the fiction of the fictonal world. It just means nothing has any meaning any impact or statement to us the player if we arent included in any way in that fiction and 4th wall break cause it wasnt directed at us instead it was meant for the fictional audience that doesnt exist. Sooooo yeah in that regard the ending basiclly just robs all meaning all suffering and all points that were made in prior series. Its a bad ending cause it basiclly says nothing matters as long as we can pull it off. There is no point for us to have as the player. Welp in the end their statement is everything is pointless as everything is in the end nothing more than entertaiment for us withouth greater meaning. Just provided by us from people like Kodaka who create it to shock us with the next big pointless plot twist. ......

I don't really see why people hate the ending to this game. The ending isn't stereotypical like people are saying. Infact it leads up to a huge fucking theory of, Which game(s) are real? If Tsumugi wasn't lying about having Cospox then she couldn't dress as Makoto/any other DR character without bursting into a bright pink. Plus, this leads to a whole bunch of theories and in my eyes is the best ending of the 3 DR games, it leads with Theories and alternate routes in a timeline of events that could happen which in my eyes leads to a good ending for the fandom to find out.

The Hope's Peak saga was probably just videogames/anime. Saihara's lab had 52 books with crimes on them. The first ones had illustrations (videogames/anime) while the older ones had pictures (live killing games). At least until that epilogue, which makes anything possible.

Personally, I'm in the Tsumugi lied club. I've seen debates about how she's the Ultimate Cosplayer so she could've made up Cospox. To this extent it could mean that those three audition videos could just be her cosplaying as a fail-safe or something. Someone online said the floor looks just like the one in her Ultimate lab, though I personally don't buy that part of the argument. Regardless, the memory of being kidnapped in the Prologue seems more real to me. Also the number 53 really stands out to me. Since a season normally means once per year, then that would mean the show had gone on for 53 years. Although, alternatively one could say there was a season for every TV season, meaning that it's been going on for 14 years or something. However, the "Anniversary Danganronpa 10" heavily implies that it's once per year as that is their 10th anniversary of the show. Due to how old the show is, I wouldn't be surprised if it started as a docu-drama based on the historical information found in the "Hope's Peak Academy" text (yes I'm assuming that the information in the textbook is real). But since it was popular and the history wouldn't provide them material forever, eventually executives decided to change it to a reality TV show where the "actors" really do kill each other, just like in the history books. Sorry for this comment being so long, just really wanted to get my idea out.

Yeah I figured that this had to have taken place way after the first three, 50+ years sounds about right. I do wonder, how would the people who went through these events feel about the show? I get that a lot of people will definitely not be satisfied with this ending. This is basically the biggest mindfuck we've had to date and I guess being the finale it makes sense. But I think we'd be better off thinking of this as an alternate reality of what happened to the world, where hope and despair existed 'in unison' and thus the creation of the reality killing game show.. But in my own opinion, *Dangan Salmon is canon* (cause everyone lives and Shuichi and Kaede can be cute af together)
@toastofcatbread3207
@toastofcatbread3207 6 жыл бұрын
I mean, it is technically possible for Salmon Mode to be canon, since all Team DR would have to do is erase the cast's memories after it's over and then have the killing game afterwards. Heck, I'd argue that they might actually have done this because it'd give the audience time to grow attached to the characters more before the actual killings start.

I really want a sequel to this universe, there is too much that doesn´t make sense. How can they be so talented when everything is fabricated? Miu created Hammers, Bombs, rewrote a program and was overall just extremely useful with her talent. And thinking about that the theme of the game are lies, how can we know that anything we learned in the last trial is real? Tsumugi could lie about everything, the scenes of the real outside world could be fabricated. I didn´t really disliked the ending (altough everything before this case seems so pointless know, learning everything about this fake world etc.) but I think it really needs a sequel to expand this new universe.

OMG, Kaede is too cute. Honestly, the first trial of this game is fantastic, but it's so good that I feel a little tramatized. I get all sad whenever I think of how Kaede and Shuichi never got to be with each other. And this final trial is such a kick in the dick about it too. Kaede is best girl, no doubt.

@Whxskey Flour_ It's left really open-ended on purpose, just for us to make our own ending for them. Technically, from what Tsmugi said, they are fictional, but the fact that they were actually given these personalities and everything would make them real in that universe. Tsumugi also had her whole point of not being able to cosplay real people with the whole "cospox" thing with Kaede, but she also claims that all of them are fictional, so she should have no problems there? I think of Tsmugi as being more of a character created by whoever she really is, a character that's essentially the same as her but with certain restrictions around what she can do. Completely honestly, I actually really like to not have an ending beyond the open one for v3, I feel like it fits the whole theme perfectly. Sorry about this being really wrong, I just have a lot of thoughts

Important fact: The background for the audition tapes that Tsumugi shows at the ending matches the photoshoot stage in Tsumugi's own Ultimate Lab. It's highly probable she was posing as the three and that cospox is fake. Furthermore, the footage shown in the Motive Videos DOES feature cast members interacting within their backstories. Since those must all be fake, it's incredibly likely that all the footage of the characters in their Motive Videos is ALSO Tsumugi.

Yeah, those audition tapes are very suspicious. For instance in Shuichi's audition tape, they blacked out his name, implying that Shuichi wasn't his real name, but in the prologue before the first flashback light when all of the students were still their true selves, Shuichi introduced himself to Kaede as Shuichi Saihara which is a clear contradiction to his audition tape.

One thing to keep in mind about the ending is that it's heavily hinted that despite all the shenanigans--and all the revelations the characters learned about--that Tsumugi was still lying about a lot of things as indicated by the cosplaycat line. That's the theme of the game, after all, so this puts into doubt a lot of things we were told. The outside world watching, made up families, the videos of the cast being excited to play the game... the grey areas of what's a truth or a lie don't really stop there. Were all the talents a lie, for example? It's pretty hard to fabricate being a robot, for example...Keebo even self-destructed and overall had a big part in the ending, so we know that part wasn't made up. But at the same time, maybe Maki wasn't an assassin. Maybe she was. The thing is, though, that the characters literally did things that were impossible if they didn't actually have a relevant talent. Maki moving extremely quickly and holding up Kokichi by the throat? Shuichi uncovering all the clues/evidence that all the other characters constantly missed? Miu creating all those inventions? It's understandable to make characters like Himiko, Korekiyo, Gonta believe their backstories, but it's a little outside of the realm of possibility that the flashback light would bestow actual abilities. So what's the truth and what's the lie? Basically what they were going for here is open interpretation. My interpretation is that Tsumugi only told the truth about a couple things.
@hiccupasterisk
@hiccupasterisk 6 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I think its foolish that people take all of Tsumugi's statements at face value in a game where they constantly pushed that one shouldn't trust so openly, and plus, to trust the villain's word entirely? They may be the Mastermind, but that doesn't mean they can't lie to further their own agenda. I do think Tsumugi lied a lot in the ending, while also telling some truths.

Monodoof see I believe that this was a tv show/ game series in this universe was real but I don’t believe they actually scripted who died when. They definitely could have tried to control people but as keebo said if the characters were both real and fictional then logically it can’t all be fiction. I think tsumugi was lying about having written their emotions and what not this is supported by when she tries to convince everyone that them choosing to die to end the game was also something she scripted to try and talk them out of it. I feel she definitely over exaggerated her control of them to try and screw with their heads
@hiccupasterisk
@hiccupasterisk 6 жыл бұрын
I do think there was a script of some sort, judging by the actions Tsumugi took in chapter 5. She was CLEARLY mad that Kokichi had derailed her show by attempting to hijack her position and end the killings, which is why she had him killed. But agreed, I doubt everything was going flawlessly. Kaede NEARLY ruined her show at the beginning so while she did influence some people, they still had some sort of free will and individual thoughts

I feel like you might have confused what was real and what wasn't. Danganronpa, Danganronpa 2, and Danganronpa:AE are all actual videogames in the "V3 Universe." The V3 outside world plays and is fans of those games. After Danganronpa getting so many spin offs and sequels, the public pushed for a "real life" Danganronpa show. Thus, they began making the "Ultimate Real Fiction" games. The events of Danganronpa 1-3 are not real life in the V3 universe, they are games/anime that the public loved so much, they created a real life version to continue the series. Thus, starting at an unknown season, Danganronpa became a reality show where actual high school students killed each other, rather then a fictional characters in a fictional videogame. Think of it like we are the characters in the V3 Outside World. We play the Danganronpa games and watch the anime, and then a reality tv show for Danganronpa was made where actual people are made to kill eachother.

Regarding the translation: The main Tumblr post that talks about the issues with Kokichi's translation, while mostly accurate, made a glaring error that hasn't ever been corrected by the author. When Kokichi is convincing Kaito to go along with his plan to trick Monokuma, he does not say, "As if a game that takes people's lives like this… could ever be fun." Reddit user crystalweaver explained this better than I ever could, so I'll just quote their comment: > やらされる in this context is the passive form of やる, and ゲームをやる means "to play a game." So the passive would mean "made to play a game." やる can mean "to kill" in some contexts (but usually only when written with katakana or kanji, like ヤる or 殺る), but 人にやらされるゲーム as "a game where you kill people" makes no grammatical sense because 人 (another person) is in the indirect object of that sentence, not the direct object. Someone else is the one forcing you to do something; you're not doing something to someone else. NISA was definitely correct in this context.

they have addressed it right here: oumakokichi.tumblr.com/post/166831663145/part-1-translation-anon-not-sure-if-yesterdays i personally believed oumakokichi was correct in translating that line considering how putting in the verb "killing" just makes that entire dialogue flows more logically. yeah, i just thought since he basically has 2 ahoges and a protagonist has a ahoge or someone important, he could have gotten one from being a important person here since he survived the last one, plus he must have been important in the last game like a protagonist, or at least the best boy in the last one. that and when you see toko fuwakas design from ultra despair girls she obviously has a ahoge, but theres a thin piece of hair that is connected where the ahoge is, like a 2nd ahoge like what rantaro has, you can see it in the danganronpa 3 anime as well a bit, which kinda make me think that he could be someone very important like a best boy or a protagonist from #52

I feel like Izuru should count as the mastermind in the second game because AI Junko wouldn't have been able to do anything if he hadn't uploaded "her" to the Neo World Program. He wanted to see if Junko really was wrong about hope (even though he believed he already knew the outcome).

Izuru was indeed the mastermind of the Jabberwock Island killing game. As much as people hate Danganronpa 3, the scene where Izuru sees Chiaki dying after her execution and Hinata's memories resurface is the moment he realized Hope is unpredictable. Since Junko's Despair was boring to him, he instead put all his work into testing the unpredictability of Hope. For that he reclaimed the Junko AI from SHirokuma and Kurokuma and then it is implied he led Makoto Naegi to the locations of the students of Class 77, which explains why Makoto was able to smuggle them off for his plan to restore their minds to normal without Future Foundation finding out. And indeed the unpredictable happened as Hinata managed to reclaim his former personality again (although with traces of Izuru's), something that should not have happened as Hinata's personality should have been erased.

LeonGun8 But Junko planned this making her the mastermind.
@LeonGun8
@LeonGun8 6 жыл бұрын
That would make her the source,not the mastermind. Izuru's plans did not factor into her plans. After all, what's the point of making her Remnants of Despair fall into Despair? They are already her soldiers and they were doing a superb job fighting off Future Foundation (it's a stated fact that Future Foundation got the upper hand only after Class 77 was out of the picture). You can't call Junko the mastermind of every little thing she had her hands on because all she did was plant a seed for further Despair, what the others did with that was all up to them. Monaca could have easily ignored Junko's plans and never created the Warriors of Hope, which is indeed what happened after UDG when she basically said "fuck it" and left. And Tengen's scheme in DR3 began because he realized even the most trusted members of Future Foundation had succumbed to Despair or were inside spies of the Remants of Despair but that doesn't make Junko the mastermind of that whole plan, merely the source. Izuru was promised a Despair that would bring him out of his boring monotonous existence and that promise was false. Yes, that IS the source. And the AI that ran the killing game was created by Junko yes. But Junko never expected Izuru to use the AI for his own purposes, nor that Izuru would become interested in Hope instead. That's Izuru's will and Junko has nothing to do with it (Izuru despised Junko for her false promises and the fact he allowed himself to be used and framed for an slaughter that did not interest him).

The necronomicon from case 3 was (in my opinion and in hindsight) a brilliant motive ( but at the same time comes off as kinda stupid(also my opinion) as only the audience and the mastermind knew that someone could be revived, but nevertheless) the part which makes it brilliant come from knowing the truth which you learn at the end of the game. It allows you to conclude that the necronomicon would have worked because the producers could have recast the person who had died and was selected for resurrection whilst altering the memories the survivors held of the “original” thus bringing the dead back to life!

I had this theory that, assuming the existence of Kaede's twin sister isn't a lie, then they would of selected her and recast her in place of her deceased sister. So in a sense, Kaede was always going to be the one who was 'revived', regardless of who the killing game participants actually chose to resurrect. It could just be written off as Angie making some mistake when performing the ritual.

I can definitely see how this ending upset people, it just doesn't bother me as much personally (in fact I think it's one of if not the best ending[s]) since I'm choosing to look at it differently. The way I see it is that I think of Kaito and the rest of the characters as the ones who developed in the game, and while the other ones are technically "real" Kaede and "real" Kaito etc., those are entirely different characters to me. I know my way of thinking isn't exactly perfect and I doubt many people will agree with how I think of it, but it's far more enjoyable imo if you look at it like that. People may disagree with me, but I think it's in a way similar to SDR2's twist with everyone being Ultimate Despair, I doubt many people suddenly hated the cast or game after revealing that, so it's hard for me to see personally how despite having some of the best trials and characters in the series, the ending of V3 can suddenly just ruin that for a lot of people. But again, that's just my take on it and no one's forced to agree with me
@annlee2737
@annlee2737 6 жыл бұрын
I've seen a theory where the "real" Kaito and Kaede shown in the video was falsified by Tsumugi and that she was just cosplaying their "real" versions. The proof the person said was because of Tsumugi's cospox where she couldn't cosplay real people and only characters, proving that the "real" versions were actually fake. Plus in the prologue they definitely didn't act like they did in the video or Danganronpa fans. There was more on that theory but I don't remember all the details. It was definitely very interesting though

I completely agree. The fact that some Past Kaito, Past Shuichi and Past Kaede exist who are all huge dicks in no way takes away from the fact that the Kaito, Shuichi and Kaede WE know are still suffering. Shuichi makes that point over and over in this trial too, doesn't he? "Just because we're fictional characters doesn't mean our pain isn't real!" The fact that some past version of Shuichi asked for this is almost irrelevant to the fact that the Shuichi WE know didn't ask for this. I think your comparison to SDR2 is excellent, actually. The fact that Hajime/Izuru caused the killing game to happen doesn't mean we stop empathising with him. The fact that the past versions of everyone in SDR2 are monsters (created by Junko, sure) doesn't mean that the suffering of the CURRENT people in SDR2 stops meaning anything.

I have several questions... What if Tsumugi's Flashback Light made her think that she was a worker at Team Danganronpa? If Tsumugi said that all the participants willingly accepted to be part of the killing game, why the "real" Kaede remembered that she was kidnapped by 3 people and put on that school on the Prologue? When Tsumugi said about being a cosplaycat criminal, was she stating that Hope's Peak Academy is just fiction? When Tsumugi stated the thing about cosplaying the whole wide world, could that mean that the "audience" shown in the trial is just fictional? What if this ending is just to let down the Danganronpa fans and not let them think about Danganronpa V4? Keebo regained his personality after the "audience" stopped watching Danganronpa, meaning that was his wish to let Shuichi, Maki and Himiko alive, and not the audiences'? And... Why Weeby put this video only at 1080p, I have a bad internet where I'm staying
@kamronspencer4910
@kamronspencer4910 6 жыл бұрын
KOFASH 123 so about the kidnapping that could easily just be how the studio gathers their “actors” after they’ve been selected which would also explain why no one helped her they might have seen like a danganronpa logo on the van and known what was happening. As for anything with tsumugi she purposefully gives out tons of contradictory evidence so relying on anything she said one way or the other is not advised. And no this ending wasn’t made to make people lose interest in the series that is a harmful misinterpretation many people have come to mainly because they feel attacked by the game. Kodaka has stated that wasn’t his intention at all.

I feel like there were a lot of assumptions in the first part of the trial, one glaring problem being that there should have been a huge dent in the floor and the fact that if tsumugi was willing to break the rules she really should have just used monokuma to do it and not have gone to the restroom, and the fact that going to the restroom and waiting for the murder to occur would take much more time than a normal visit unless she was going number 2 or something. I also think that it's naive for shuichi to think that the mastermind and monokuma would just give up after revealing they cheated, like if its revealed that they don't care about the rules that much they could just be like 'ok whatever lol' *ALSO THAT'S A HORRIBLE FUCKING PLACE TO PUT A SECRET ENTRANCE LIKE KIRUMI COULD SOOOO EASILY FIND THAT*

Yeah, this ending was so controversial that it really overshadows the rest of the game. Some love it, some hate it. From a personal standpoint, I like the ending itself but I feel like the epilogue is kinda weak. It's a beautiful scene but I would have preferred the ending to be a schrondiger's cat whether everyone died or not. In addition, I think the whole meta thing is beat a bit too much over the head in the final trial.... not to mention I think Kiibo was really cheated out of a survivor slot(dying after the final trial... bleh..)Granted, I do like how insane the final twist is and I do think it's the perfect over the top ending of "Kodaka's" Dangan Ronpa.
