There is no doubt this series has: a. Taught me a thing or two about car mechanic techniques. b. Inspired me. c. Made me realise my limits, and that letting the professionals do it is no bad thing. Top series, thanks for sharing so many tips of the trade.

Well, at least we know friends are the same everywhere...lol...you guys are great, Al's dry sense of humor, and general metered approach to both the frustrating and exciting, translates well in detailed descriptions of problems/solutions....just some appreciation from StLou in the states.... many props, bro

That's how you can tell who your good friends are. When you've had their tools and they've had your tools so long neither of you can remember who's are who's. So you you just borrow what you need when ever.

What better way to start the week?! Agreed, Al, that we should all get out to our sheds and wrench on something, it's good for the soul, and also lets you vent all that extra knuckle blood that's been building up. A question, since I spent all my time in Australia drinking VB, I never tried your Lemon Squash... what's the nitro-methane content? It seems to make crap jobs, like hard lines, fun and exciting. Magic!

Totally agree on brake lines being frustrating and that you just have to keep trying. Story time. I was working on my project car, 1979 242DL. Replacing all the brake lines and rounded off the nut on the hardline. Told myself it'll be an easy fix, just make new ones. Boy was I wrong. About 10 tries later and I finally as able to make the correct length with a good flare for the driver side. I didn't have any of those fancy Eastwood tools. All I had was the 35 dollar tools. Tip, a little oil in the die helps it flare better. At least for me it did.

I have the Eastwood tool and it's a amazing, but it's not the first thing you should do if you want an easier time with brake lines. The very first thing is to to use Nicop line. I read about it for years and then finally tried it. It cuts down the time to run brake lines by at least 1/2. I'll never run steel line again.

brake lines were hell on my 1967 mustang. I got a new 4 pot wilwood disc brake kit for the front and new cylinders and drums for the rear and ended up needing all new lines, front to back. We had some cheapo autozone flaring kit to do our double flares and it pushed back getting the car on the road by almost 3 months. We had a leaky line and no matter what we did it still leaked. Finally fixed it but doing those lines was quite a learning experience. Spend the money on a good flaring kit or have a shop do it that has one.

I haven't made the alice leap (to a LS ) yet, I have a completely studed 4bolt 350 block, with 5140 crank and rods, forged pistons, comp cams nos hp. Cam with about 560/580" lift, 215cc intake 64cc aluminum heads, needing a stout trans to bolt to so it can find its home! I planned to fuel it on E85, but. Now no one sells it without atleast 25 miles! I'm thinking about swapping heads, to around 76cc and going with a turbo! I went with a MLS head gasket, id like closter to 9.8-10:1 for boost, but some day, I hope to get it going!! I need a tko600, or T-56, 6speed, but $$$

I can remember learning to do brake lines, last time I did them was on my old Buick, I don't even use a bending tool anymore, just like Yoda said it's so easy you can bend it by hand with your fingers, just gotta know how to manipulate it so you don't kink it, and doesn't have to be perfect, as long as it isn't rubbing agents anything and there is enough clearance, you can bend it roughly to shape and it will work, the brake lines on my Buick looked quite nice, too bad I sold her.
