Nice looking kit. That walnut really came in handy. From the old Amazon kits to this little skiff really shows the skills you’ve gathered. It’s that sensation of learning over time that I think keeps us building kits of any kind. Hope a lot of beginners get that sense of accomplishment by watching this little series. NOW BRING ON THE BIG ONE!

As always, thanks for the inspiration! I’ve gotten a good start on the Chaperon Steamer. It challenging for sure. Good for the brain trying to figure things out. Then I will tackle The Flying Dutchman 🏴‍☠️ I wouldn’t mind a nice big snowstorm… I’m on my 4th Subaru and to date never driven one of them in a big one 😂👍 ❄️

Hi Boiler Dan, what a lovely job you have made of this little model. It is so neat and compact but you have managed to use all your skills and experience to make it into a showpiece. I think I will have a go and see if I can do as good a job as you. Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to The Chaperon next, looks like a mighty fine model. 👍

Thanks AlanK. I just posted Part 2 of the Chaperon. So far it been a fun build. Less planking than on a tall ship and a lot less time on rigging. (Although rigging is what makes the ship special.) As always, thanks for following along and the positive feedback. 👍

Do you remember on your chaperon : There are like fences hanging by the front of the boiler. I only see two hanging, but the kit has 4? I thought maybe you glue them together but then it might be too thick for the brackets? Maybe they are extra or go somewhere else????

I do...I didn't glue the together...I put a small drop of glue on the hangers and sat them on top. They are glued to the hangers, but I can move them apart if I decide to...the bottom of the fence pieces are not glued together. I think they were to close off the cargo/livestock area if there was any livestock loaded. Also, it says in the instruction to hold off on putting the bull rails on until later...I left them off for quite a while and it made it much easier to move the ship...once they are on, you have to be careful that you don't knock them off or break them when moving it.

@BuckmansModelMania Thanks for the confirmation. I agree, leaving those outer railings off until the end. They are very thin. Thanks again for all your help. I’ll give your videos credit in my series in the near future 👍👍
