Lyrics: here comes another nightmare another fever dream the horror just won’t stop an endless scream but this is not subconscious we’re not imagining we’re wide awake this is reality our world’s lost without a soul we’re losing all control not getting closer every step is just another dose of torture now we pay the cost the race is lost this nightmare’s our real life you better cover up your eyes my friend the sky is falling can’t outrun the ruin of our lives be prepared we’re near the end the final days are calling hold on now the sky is falling down a curse that's never-ending a path with no escape no sudden death we're trapped in slow decay these words are not symbolic the torment's all too real eternal enemy our fate is sealed we slide further down the hole the damage takes it's toll helpless and broken failed to stem the tide of pain the floodgate's open now it's one more sin as evil wins and mis'ry steals our lives ~~Lamar wrote his own~~

Is it just me or do a lot of words relate to the Grimm Hound in general? Of course, this is the song playing when Yang, Jaune, and Ren are chasing after it, but after seeing lyrics such as 'No sudden death, a slow decay' (after the Schnee's killed the Hound, underneath the Grimm skin was just bone) and during Lamar's verse 'Oh God, lost control, I think I'm gonna lose it'. IDK, but that is how I interpreted the song.
@zealousElement2 жыл бұрын
I was also thinking that this could be of the Silver Eyed Warriors as a whole. "Better cover up your eyes my friend the sky is falling." Salem was going after them and I'm sure plenty started hiding their heritage as their people were killed and/or experimented on. Their lives have been ruined forevermore and that's why I think it played perfectly during the hound chase as the prelude to the truth of what was hidden within.
@Kerrisive2 жыл бұрын
@@zealousElement I think the rap is mostly Jaune's perspective on trying to move past Pyrrha's death, despite what people have said it arguably being Oscar's perspective. Given how a vast majority of it is about trying to move past the casket of a dead loved one, the video screen with Pyrrha's video to him, and given what he does at the end of the volume, it's sort of brought into retrospect.

I have a theory about this song, and it stems from the phrase “Every day is just another dose of torture.” I think this song is sung from the perspective of the Faunus inside The Hound. It may seem like a weird theory at first, but think about how much pain and suffering poor little fox man had to go through in order to be turned into... well... that. Not to mention, when we first see it, every time it evolves and changes form, we can hear its bones breaking and shifting into different places than they’re supposed to be in. Moreso, when we see it grow wings for the first time, it is screaming in pain. This might just be me, but I don’t think it’s a pleasant experience to be one of these Grimm symbiote things. (Grimmbiotes? Grimmbiotes.) Plausible theory, wouldn’t you say?

Volume 8 spoilers, do not read unless you've seen all of rwby. So in Greek Mythology Atlas is a Titan who was cursed to hold up the sky, therefore in RWBY when the staff of creation is used again Atlas falls from the sky. That could be the sky is falling since there's nobody to hold up the sky. At the same time it could be from the city of Mantle, their sky is blocked by Atlas for the most part I believe so when Atlas falls and crashes into Mantle then the sky is falling. My first theory was inspired by the Genius annotation on this song. If I'm wrong at all about any of this information, please correct me. I'm not claiming to know everything and I'm more than happy to admit my mistake.

As cat in 9 "who thought the set up of Atlas over Mantle was a good idea?" Rhetorical question it was a very bad idea. More accurate The Titans who controlled the world lost to the Olympians who took over as Titans had Greek style immortality the best kind there is no way to overcome it those with always returning to life no matter what you do to them or how powerful the being doing it. Some were imprisoned in Tartarus others like Atlas condemned to various tasks.

@@silvereyes242 I should interject and say that Awake isn't a RWBY song; its a song by Ok Goodbye which is Casey's own band. Her Dad brought her band's song Awake to the RWBY soundtrack to help prop her band up. Its why Awake is both so musically and tonally different from RWBY music in general.

I've been feeling that, too, and felt like I was going crazy. Mostly because in the show the songs for volume 8 sounded really cool and I was quite excited for them, checking almost weekly for news. Now that they're here? I've scarcely listened to them at all as much as I did with volume 7's soundtrack. I'm no musician so I can't place my finger on why, and I'm probably not qualified to do so even if I could, but it FEELS like bits of the music in the episodes got mashed together with an entirely different direction in actual soundtrack production that created a kind of amalgamation song? I dunno, I'm just rambling now but it's nice to see that I'm not completely crazy when it comes to the feeling that something is off. Edit: just to stress I'm not complaining about the way the soundtracks are made, the singers, or anything personal like that. I'm not out here to attack Jeff, Casey, Lamar Hall, or their team. I'm just stating what I (someone with no experience) think might have happened. Plus disclaimer, I'm aware music is subjective and some people really liked this volume's soundtrack. I'm just saying this because it seems like a lot of us met this wall and I was wondering why.

@@mauriceisaac3646 "Most" people, no not really. If anything past the earlier "better" volumes was as bad as you want them to be, the show would've been cancelled you know. If "most people" actually hated it, it would've been evident to the point that the show wouldn't go on. Clearly not what's happening. Just because you don't like it doesn't it's bad writing. We don't live in a world where just because you say it's bad, then that opinion becomes fact. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that's the truth. And no, I'm not saying RWBY is flawless, but ignoring the success and popularity by majority of people across the world, and say it's only because it's riding on the success on earlier volumes is honestly laughable. Like I said, the show is still beloved by millions of people around the world so the success and popularity is not something you can pretend does not exist. You don't have to like it and you're entitled to your opinion, but the whole "nah, I say it sucks and that's the general consensus" when clearly that's not the case since there's so much support and love for it, otherwise the show wouldn't be continued. It's been years and 5 volumes since the "better" volumes. Clearly people enjoyed them. Volume 5 was probably the weakest of them though and could've been done better, I'll give you that. Honestly, I will never understand why people go out of their way to hatewatch (or otherwise) stuff or feel the need to just bash it because hating it is their whole personality. You could've just said you liked this track and leave it at that, but nope; gotta bash the show for no reason. Sorry for the rant. I feel that we're not gonna change each other's mind about this, but I guess I needed to say my piece and leave it at that. I'll do me, you'll do you. Apologies for taking up your time by having you read this. Have a good one!
@mauriceisaac36463 жыл бұрын
@@theycallmebad It being bad writing isn't dependent on my opinion, but based on legitimate writing flaws (plot holes/contrivances, iffy story direction, questionable character usage) that have been pointed out by fellow viewers (I recommend analyses from TheJudgemental Critter and Twiins iink about the past few volumes). It's okay to enjoy something you know is flawed. You shouldn't have to turn a blind eye to them, just be humble enough to acknowledge them. Maybe they don't bother you as much as it does others, which is okay, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Something that continues to be successful isn't always indicative of the current quality of the show itself, but just from how profitable their brand continues to be. That's why popular shows like The Simpsons, Family Guy, Teen Titans Go, and Spongebob continue to be on, despite their subjective quality now. I'm free to express my distaste towards the show as I see fit, especially when emphasizing that the music is one of the few redeeming factors the show still has. You could've just accepted my take and moved on, but you chose to start an argument over it because I dared to say something negative. It works both ways.
