When I heard this song, my mind made connections to every past opening and it gave me chills. "We said goodbye to all the things we loved," - Time to Say Goodbye reference. "We tried to rise," - reference to Rising? "Defeat the hate through love," - reference to Trust Love? There are other lines you could connect to Trust Love. "Keep hope alive," - reference to Let's Just Live's entire message? "Our plans of triumph torn apart" - reference to Triumph. "We're falling faster every day," - When It Falls reference? "Will this be the day that we always feared?" - This Will Be The Day reference. No idea if that was intentional or if I'm just reading into it but it's still cool.

Someone - How many tribute and callback to past song we put ? Jeff - Yes Despite the fact that the song has quite dark lyrics, I couldn't help but smile at every reference I saw here and there. And the fact that the last line is a direct reference to the first opening, this will be the day, it's just a wonderful idea to show the end of one era, the better to start another.

“Will this be the day that we have always feared?” It even has the same motif as that song!!! It feels so final. Probably why the cover art is like this too, directly (but not DIRECTLY) referencing the original, intending to make everything feel final when it actually isn’t. Also, remember some past songs like “I May Fall”, “Gold”, “Divide”, “Home”, and “Until the End”, there are many lines like “When we fall” or “And should we fall to darkness”, directly foreshadowing when team RWBY actually falls.

Alright: 2 things I just noticed: 1: THAT FUCKING BASS OH MY GOD. It's there lurking underneath most of the song but Jeff lets it shine at 0:48 and it slays me every time! 2: I don't know the technical term, but whatever that ascending guitar riff thing is at 1:15 needs to be injected directly into my veins! Jeff and Casey killed this! Just for this track alone, I could have waited another 6 months. They are soooo damn good!

Yep, I noticed this when the volume was ongoing. (even used when she first shows up in the opening to punctuate it) Volume 8 *was* Cinder's volume and to permeate her importance they decided to add her leitmotif into the opening, which is incredibly rare. No other character has had their own leitmotif put into the opening songs.

Trust Love is a Greek chorus, warning of the impending tragedy if ignored (which it was, no one trusted love in the end, leading to the tragedy of V8's divided core). This song isn't from the "chorus" perspective, but seems to be the views of everyone involved, mostly Ruby, Ironwood, and Oscar, with some of the villain's leitmotifs in the background ever holding to their present threat. In Ruby's eyes (the simple girl she often is), Ironwood's path of abandoning Mantle was "hate", and in her view she tried to rise above this division by reuniting communication. She also felt her final plan to save Penny and the residents of Atlas and Mantle was choosing "love" for humanity, Though "maybe it's just fantasy, a hopeless goal we can't achieve". In Ironwood's eyes Salem represents "hate". He gave his trust equitably and put his hopes into Ruby's party as they were Oz's Chosen with the literal desire to rise and soar above, which was opposed by Ruby's party. "Will this be the day we always feared", applies much more to Ironwood than it does Ruby's party, "My plans for triumph torn apart", while it can apply to Ruby's gambit of her escape plan, sounds more like Ironwood's hope of bringing communications back to combat Salem directly.
