Miranda’s performance is REVOLUTIONARY. She chose to study performances by Clint Eastwood and other strong male actors in preparation for this role. She wanted to assert dominance and power while only speaking in soft tones. Making others have to lean on and pay attention every time she spoke. It’s crazy how she was able to master making you feel yelled at while talking so quietly! You could really feel the hostility with each look. At the same time we caught glimpses of her as a human being with emotions. Over all, Chilling, incredible, perfection.

Can we just talk about the look on Miranda's face when she says "everyone wants this" not only tells US that she has a hard time with it, but tells us that SHE is aware she has a hard time with it. She has several of those looks, so subtle and quick, another being the "why would I cancel" when she's crying about the divorce. She knows exactly why, she just knows she can't afford too and it stings. To portray that in such a subtle and quick way speaks volumes to the casting, directing, and writing.
@SuzER082 жыл бұрын
I remember reading that the original line was "everybody wants to be me" and meryl streep changed it to "us" which i feel like really shows that miranda sees Andy (and her team as a whole) as an extension of herself and that's why she has such strong demands of all of them, not only that but it hammers home that Andy has become "one of them" whether she was willing to admit it or not

I LOVE the smile at the end, because when they’re at the OG James Holt preview, Stanley Tucci is all ‘Miranda has smiled once on record’ and it was viewed as her ultimate seal of approval. So to give it to Andy in that final meeting, after she’d walked away from runway, it’s like Miranda was acknowledging that Andy leaving was the right decision. In the end Andy made the ‘Miranda call’ and didn’t allow herself to be backed into a corner. She was her own woman. As much as I wanted to see Andy continue to slay it, I think Miranda would’ve respected her less if she’d stayed.

@@2000-very-small-ants if Andy refused, Miranda would have to take Emily, since she would be without any assistants otherwise and Emily is still better than any last minute replacement. The reason Miranda said Emily wasn’t on the team at all is because she was no longer the best assistant, but the choice not to go would basically force Miranda to take Emily or find someone else. Meryl in this movie is an All Time Great Performance. Like, her line readings ("hire the smart FAT girl", "why is no one READY." THE CERULEAN MONOLOUGE) should be studied. Also, Emily Blunt. She's fabulous and "you eat CARBS, for CHRISSAKES." is just gutbustingly funny.

I loved this movie because I wanted to be a Fashion Designer. So, I went and did that and worked as a Stylist for a top Studio in Australia. Got fired for not being enough of a sales rep (my degree and education are in fashion.) Had my Andy moment. Now I am studying STEM and do Costuming for Film productions on the side. Had the same boyfriend the whole time (he is far from a crust lord)., and we now live together. My life is a movie.

But the grate in the grill is too high and the cheese melts and then burns and then the cheese fumes of the moldy cheese get stuck to the grill, so that any future thing that you put in that grill is going to smell like moldy cheese. i have no idea what this channel is about, i dont usually watch these types of videos on youtube, i dont even know if i would consider this like a video essay thing, all I know is that your personality, narration and personal breakdown of this movie completely enthralled me and I love exactly how it touches on some key things (like how deep the fashion industry choices affects us and that butterfly effect) from the movie but its doesnt get too analytical. And this brought out a lot of parts from the movie i didn't even remember since its been a while since i watched it. By the end of the video, I kinda teared up bc I didn't really get what happened in the ending of the movie until seeing how you explained it now. Wow. Really. I didn't know I needed this video in my life, it closes so much of the vagueness I felt around a childhood movie. You're already at like 733k, but best know that you have a new sub from me bc of this

The comparison of Andy, an intern basically trying to start her careers going to Paris instead of Emily versus Miranda, a millionaire with years if experiencing approaching retirement age betraying her closest friend doesn't feel right. Like I get what the writers were trying to do but it didn't quite hit with me

not to mention andy was literally blackmailed with her entire career and future like ma'am please... still a slay scene though, shows a lot about what goes through mirandas head
@JasonWong-dt6zi5 ай бұрын
The writing was a little lazy here since it was Miranda that really made the choice. Yeah, Andy could have opted out but Miranda made it clear that she would be screwed if she did so. If the writers were willing to make the film more serious, they could have left the choice entirely up to Andy which would have made her a more complex and dramatic character at the expense of making her a less likeable character.

The scene where Andy and Christian "hook up" is like... legitimately SA. She laid out how it was wrong of him to try to sleep with her but that spiel was supposed to be the "joke." She sat there saying she's too drunk, she just broke up, she's vulnerable, she's in a new city, etc... and he just kept going for it till she gave in. It was treated like a funny teehee moment but it is SO uncomfortable to watch
