As someone who's 21 and also battling cancer, On Track is the one song that stood out to me on the album. I had to take time off of college because of my treatment and surgery so all of my friends are graduating while I still have another year and it makes me feel like I'm lagging behind or not where I should be. I need to be realistic about what I've had to go through and On Track reflects the outlook that I need, "Strictly speaking I'm still on track." Despite all the difficulties I've faced and struggles I have I'm still here, alive, and I'm thankful for that and I have the rest of my life to finish college.

It makes me sad that Patience didn't make it onto the album. I feel like the thesis of The Slow Rush can be found in the opening lines of Patience. "Has it been that long? Did I count the days wrong?" Somehow time rushes right by no matter how slow it feels.
@curiouslyunruffled4 жыл бұрын
Au contraire, I think Kevin made a great decision by not including Patience bc the beats on the song are v dissimilar to the entire album bc obviously he made Patience way before he actually started work on The Slow Rush. Patience wouldn't have fit into the album's sound aesthetic. Just listen to Patience and the album simultaneously and you'll realize what I'm saying!

honestly it would ruin the album patience for me was a bland single, the drums and bongos didnt mix well with the piano balled and the synths and some of the lyrics for the first time on a tame impala song where questionable, but the opening lyrics are clever. on the song you can just hear the rust from the half decade he didnt make music

I've only just recently allowed myself to fully investigate Tame Impala, I heard The Less I Know The Better years ago and loved it but decided to sort of "save them for later" if you get me. So I finally came back and got into their music hardcore just as their newest album dropped and I'm Absolutely Blown Away by how layered and complex their production is, it sounds timeless and trancelike. I really mean Timeless too, I've shown them to unknowing friends and they all had Absolutely NO Idea that their music was so recent. They're everything I love about Daft Punk, Arctic Monkeys, MGMT, and more all wrapped up into one all encompassing hypnotic disco-funk-rock sound crossed with ethereal vocals and gripping lyrics. I'm in love with their music and they've made my top three in a short amount of time
