I thought I was hearing angels. This is one of those rare recordings that is so heartbreakingly beautiful that it can actually be hard to listen to because the tears start to flow. This music reminds me so much of those I love and have lost. A magnificent work that will touch hearts for ages.

In his autobiography, Swann wrote about this song and the King's Singers arrangement. Swann and Flanders recorded it in 4/4 common time, but the King's Singers reminded him that trains move in 6/8. This always brings a tear to my eye, whatever the meter.
