How I find watching a guy drive across Europe at 50mph entertaining is beyond me, however I find it strangely compelling viewing 😂. Being a Land Rover I am probably subconsciously waiting for the break down. Keep going buddy 👍

Another great episode! It must feel great to have covered this distance in the Defender already. Gets that new owners anxious worry of ‘what might be wrong with it’ out of the way. The way it’s treated you, your confidence must be high with it already!

this by far your best series of videos. love the pre-travel prep, and now the day to day.

I first thinking on the other episode: yeah, 9,75 litres per 100km is quiet good, but with the information about the speed everything make sense. In this case i can do it as well with my 2014 td4, but I didn’t try it on a motorway. :D. Great series by the way… cool.

If you fancy doing a video on a Santana PS-10, mine will be on the road next year after a full rebuild. It'll have to be in the summer though, as it's off to Africa later on in the year.

Where you never tempted to just kip in the stretcher in the back rather than forking out the best part of £100 for a hotel? Nerdy question too, that seat fabric is on the front bases? Raleigh? Is that standard for row spec?

I think the fact that you have only seen one Defender so far reminds you of why you are doing this. They are becoming rare

And there's a whole host of companies hoovering up LHD defenders from southern Europe for rebuild and export to the US.

If your headlight switch has melted you normally smell it! Two solutions, replace the switch and install a relay or LED headlights.

In Germany there is no and never was a general minimum Speed Limit on the Autobahn, in the regard that such a limit demands you to drive always faster than the minimum limit. Even german drivers get this often wrong. The Law is and always was that your Vehicle has to be able to drive more than 60 km/h to be legally driven on the Autobahn. But if for example harsh weather conditions don´t allow for 60km/h it is totally fine to drive slower. For safety reasons and to help traffic flow it is best practice to drive at least as fast as the Lorries. So if possible you should at least drive about 80-90 km/h.

Wouldn’t worry about your speed, I drive my 130 at 85kph on the motorways, it’s got a reasonably heavy Foley camper conversion with a bit of a slab forehead above the cab, makes a normal defender look like a supercar aerodynamics wise🤷♂️

I'm a bit torn by this video, on the one hand the din of the Tdi being a bit wearing at 90 km/h makes me glad my series 3 is a V8 which will happily cruse at 100...110 km/h at what seems like much less noise (but probubly isn't, Lt95's are quite loud). On the other hand after 300 km I get very strong range anxiety and it makes the thought of a really long trip seem unfeasible. Done a long trip to Morocco in a series 3 with a 2.5D and that was actually pretty good just slogging along - 500 km to a tank, 90 km/h cruse but 50 km/h up hills (on the Spanish motorway). I've actully driven to Serbia from the UK before but that was in a Nissan Terrano II so was probubly a lot more comfortable untill it broke down which resulted in a very stressful week getting it fixed (electronics failed in the Bosch VE injection pump). That too also suffered from a dodgy clutch pedal after spending a long time at 90...100 km/h - I wondered if it was old hydraulic fluid as in my expereance few people change the brake fluid every 2 years and no one ever does the clutch untill it fails, but old fluid seems to cause most corrosion and seal related failures.

Big on my to do list is bring my 1995 300tdi to the alpes, a journey I've done lots of times in modern reliable cars, but never my trusty ol 110. Slow and steady! Or I just take the air conditioned volvo again :p

Slowest driver on the Autobarn, I remember in 1997 I did a trip on my Honda 750 from uk to Budapest and back, I met 2 Australian guys who were driving two Indian Enfield 500cc from India to UK, they asked if they could tag along with me ?. I asked their cruising speed.. 55 they replied optimistically, I suggested they keep off the Autobarn..
