great content! your channel, along with lizzie and chris, pete and matti were big motivators to getting me back into photography as a hobby and led me to eventually ordering the new a7IV as my first fullframe (and mirrorless to boot) with the 24-105 f4 g oss lens in hopes I can step up my game in the new year. using a lot of your past videos as tutorials and references for various things and hope to try a bit of real estate video for family if the 24mm is wide enough. also really like your taste in home decor and studio style 👌🤩 shame about the FPV drone :S

So important, not too much gear, but not too little. If you guys do a video on your portable set I’d love to know how you did your debriefs: - Are you guys interviewing each other? - Do you review the footage before shooting them? - do you have a list of talking points? it looks like it became an important part of the series using it as an A Roll for most videos.

It always amazes me the amount of equipment that goes into making productions like these. I can't begin to imagine the amount of time it takes to process all that footage. I have had a bash at YT video making in the not so distant past with dual cameras in my aircraft and in the end I just couldn't find the time (working it around a day job) to make the videos. I now just point and shoot with my phone (or take stills from the VIRB I have) when I go flying. As I have said previously well done on a great series.
@BeckiandChris3 жыл бұрын
It can definitely be a little overwhelming with lots of cameras. I can’t imagine tackling it while working a day job! Nothing wrong with pointing and shooting ☺️

@@BeckiandChris Thanks for not making me feel like I am cheating with using the mobile point and shoot :) Though I have an entry level DSLR (an old EOS 1100D) that I should probably learn how to use properly, though using anything other than automatic mode and infinity focus whilst flying in a small aircraft is probably going to be hard.

If it ain't broken don't fix it. I live by that philosophy too. I also live by the phrase buy cheap pay twice but forget to follow this rule all the time. I bought some cheap Neewer studio lights and discovered that they are poo at their job. Your Apurtute light looks great. Had I seen this then I may not have took a Kickstarter punt on a Rotolight for my next studio/camera light. Live and learn. 😀

So you shoot photo and video on the same Sony cameras, are you switching your picture profile when switching modes?
@BeckiandChris3 жыл бұрын
Usually video on one and photo on the other, but if we use them for the opposite task we switch settings. I have custom buttons set up on my A7R4 to quickly go into video mode with preset custom settings (slog2, 24p, 1/50th etc). With the A7S3 I sometimes forget or don’t have time to change, so I’ll over expose to compensate for the PP and Gamma Assist
@JacobMedler3 жыл бұрын
@@BeckiandChris When you do remember, is your custom setting just that dial setting it to "1" or "2", or you have like "C3" set to switch picture profile and gamma display assist on and off? I do a lot of photography and video at the same time and either have weird colored photos or not the best video because I choose one.

Upon hearing Becki comment her MBP 13" 2018 can't handle workload well (not surprising), would suggest the obvios upgrade, get a M1 MacBookAir 16GB Memory perfect for almost anything and better for travel (runs circles around her notebook) - or If you like-prefer staying with a Pro, the M1 MBP 13" for portability.

Great to see all the kit you used, the end result was amazing 🥳 Re audio, you mentioned it's a bit finicky with the GoPro and the helicopter - I found the audio there pretty tricky to follow, is it that bad or just a side-effect of the GoPro audio issues?
