You two are sooo great!! Love it Love it. I have been on road trips like this where I bring soooo much gear, and I do use 90% of it. And it is exhausting. I’ll shoot a training class in the morning (camera(s), tripods, wireless mics, lights etc) and then they call ‘lunch break’ and orders to meet back here at 1:30 because we’re heading out on a canoe trip and an old forest hike. I have to tear down that gig, take it all to the hotel room then repack for a canoe trip and forest hike (GoPro’s, drone, a7III, lenses, waterproof backpack, batteries), no lunch and just make it to the door to hop in my rental car and drive some of the participants to the harbour. Film all afternoon, and then back to the hotel, start backing up footage, charging batteries, eat ‘something’ and crash so I can be up at 6:00 to repackage for morning training classes and another outing in the afternoon. So so so so exhausting but damn it’s fun!!! You guys did an amazing job of all that AND dealing with a helicopter, preflights, navigation and on and on the list goes. You need a Non-KZbin Holiday... but even then, you can’t go without gear because you know you’re going to wish it was there. It’s a kick ass curse!!! Keep up the fantastic work!!! Love you guys! Internal farts and all! 🤣🤪🤗😘

I love how organized you both were during this trip. Did you do a lot of planning in terms of the shots, places, etc. that helped you create such a beautiful and cinematic series? Also, a little random but could you also do a video on lighting (studio and outside - run and gun)? Your studio lighting especially is utterly beautiful and I wish I can replicate it.
@BeckiandChris5 жыл бұрын
Amrita Bhortake we did as much planning as we could but our locations were totally weather dependent and we couldn’t book anything ahead of time. We did a lot of readjusting as we went!

I somehow manage to film all my episodes & photography; on just my A7III with the Tamron 28-75. Using the APS-C crop function essentially gives me a 28-75 when shooting fullframe and then also a 42-112mm THEN if I film in 4k I can crop in 2x which gives me essentailly a 80-220. So in a weird way, I manage tog et 28-220 out of my setup with just one lens. It surpises me how many options I can get out of it; just wish I had a nice wide prime, but hate swapping lenses and pulling in dust when im out on my adventures, so I think when the a74/a7s3 comes it'll be the second cam I have been waiting for, plus the Tamron 75-180 coming soon; juicy and delicious. I manage to fit all my camera gear in one of those tiny manfrotto camera bags that everyones aunt has with their rebel xt's

I love me some gear, but that was a lot! When the next A7 S drops maybe Becki and Chris will pick it up with a A6600 so they can get the IBIS and stay on a common battery? On the next epic Cold Island type project how bags will they be able to get it down to? I would start by chucking the slider and gimbals. A few more static shots is low price to pay. Throw in a few more external drive as insurance and sync up their content every night. 👍
@solafilms4 жыл бұрын
I watched this video before but had to come back because I remembered you saying you didn't use the gimbal at all. I just found out about the Weeble S, which has been out for a while, but I haven't kept up with gimbals. Anyway, it's very compact and perfect for a mirrorless system and from what I've heard, easy and quick to balance. Idk, but maybe if you had a smaller gimbal, you may be inclined to use it more?

I’m in Asia for a longer trip atm and like you, I have so much gear! Since I’m not flying a helicopter like you I fly coach in budget airlines which makes my packing pretty limited. My backpack is full of electronics and weighs in at 15kg’s and my checked luggage at 25kg’s. I also brought my Robin S, and like you I did not use it once. But better safe than sorry tbh, would have been so sad if I left it at home and needed it. Next time I won’t bring it though!
