Within the US, it’s so typical to fly small planes for domestic routes that are 5 or even 6 hours long. Just did one last week. Domestic distances in the US rival many international distance routes. Service is terrible though

That's a brutal flight dude. I just took TAP From Bos to LIS on a A321neoLR. Horrible small plane for 7hrs. And the 737 fuselage is 7" narrower than the Airbus!

I definitely miss twin aisle planes. Much more amenities and space.

they're still around! especially on internationals, even with united! just the smaller planes are in use for destinations with minimal demand

I am flying Washington Dulles to Reykjavik, Iceland on a 737Max in February. That's an almost 6 hour flight... Partially looking forward to it and partially not :D
