I think that shulkers would have been better for the collision of solid blocks. Their collision is just like the collision of a block. The problem with shulkers is that when they are invisible, only their "shell" is invisible, their head isn’t. This is why I think that it is good for the solid blocks and not transparent or non-full block. Good video. =)

this is such a fun video, and it was super cool learning about how entities work in Minecraft!
@tysonbeltran8470Ай бұрын
This video really takes me back to when I was first learning Minecraft command creations! I remember watching videos by SimplySarc and Dragnoz, where they would make a creation that, while simple, totally blows your mind with what you can do with just the vanilla Minecraft features. I like how you used a custom achievement to keep track of whether or not the door was open. I love how you used the slimes as hitboxes. I had no idea that other entities than players could be shrunk with the "scale" tag and still have their hitboxes still work. I also hadn't heard about the "teleport_duration" tag for display entities. Goodness, I learned a lot from this video and the comments! I have a few more comments and questions: Is 1/4096 the limit to how small you can scale down block entities? It looks like 1/16 is the smallest scale that entities can be given, but it looks like you made use of the transformation{scale} tag to scale down the door block entities. I couldn't find anything about the limit for that. Did you just chose 4096 because it was about the limit of what you could easily see with the telescope, or does something break if you try to go smaller? Would an alternative way to implement the door animation be to use the "transformation" tag of block entities? I know from experience that the "transformation" tag is a giant pain to use, but I imagine that you could cut down on a command or two in the datapack by using that. Either way, your solution is way more elegant and satisfying, so nice job! I reckon the reason that the slimes weren't becoming invisible when you splashed them with the potion is that the hitbox for the area effect cloud might have been raised slightly above the block. If I were to guess, that distance would be around half the height of the potion's hitbox. Since the slimes were small enough, they might simply have been out of range to be affected. Lastly, would you be able to summon a few slimes per block in order to make the "hitbox" of the house more "solid?" Looks like other commenters had this idea, too. I'm not sure if it would work, or if it would just make the house super bouncy (maybe it would make you launch back when you touch a few slimes). I'll have to test that sometime. I saw that shulkers might be a viable option too, since they apparently can be scaled down, too. But, like some people in the comments were saying, it seems like a hassle to set up because of the resource pack required to remove the shulker head. Really nice video, Gneiss! I don't know why I wasn't subscribed after your other videos, but I am now!

As someone who just made custom rotating doors in my datapack, I was incredibly disappointed when you used slimes, if you make a shulker a passenger of something like an air item display, they dont snap to blocks and they provide solid collision. This has the drawback of needing a custom shader to make shulkers fully invisible, but it lets you make interpolated collision boxes Very cool regardless 👍
