I have had ketamine infusions and oral ketamine (better u, not mindbloom but sounds very similar). I did 6 infusions over 11 weeks and it was absolutely life changing. Oral was a total waste of money and did not work at all. I suffered from severe depression for 30 years and ketamine sucked me out of that hole. I feel like my brain works like it is supposed to now and peace is a real thing! I’m going for my first maintenance infusion next week after a little over a year.

Hi! Thank you for sharing this!! I was really hoping a few viewers would comment on their experiences with both IV Ketamine and oral/online services and I had figured that's what would be said. Yea the oral route is just not effective. That said, I'm incredibly happy that you've emerged from the darkness and have your life back. So happy to hear this is so effective. Please continue to drop a line here and there to let me know how you're doing. Danielle

Hi@@blancordmusic6742 ! Thanks for commenting. it is incredibly expensive if not approved by insurance but the oral option might be worth a try. I truly hope that it works for you. Depending on your reason for interest in ketamine therapy, if it's for intractable depression it very well may be approved by insurance with a doctor who will prescribe it and submit notes for authorization. I'd say it's more than fine to try the oral version but it typically falls short of being super effective. Aside from oral and IV there's also Spravato (intranasal) however this is only marginally better than oral. It's a tough one as there are very few true options other than what I covered. If you'd like to email me please do so at danielle@lucid-med.com and I can try to assist further. If nothing else I'm here to support you. Danielle

Ketamine also aggravates interstitial cystitis. My wife was on ketamine, through a medically monitored program. They failed to inform her of this. After about two months, once she was in extreme pain from a IC flare up, the likes of which she never had before, she spoke with her GP about this. He informed her that ketamine is contraindicated for those with interstitial cystitis. So often some miracle drug comes along, and everyone sings its praises. Yet there's always a downside that gets overlooked. Psilocybin and MDMA are another example. Both are excellent treatments for PTSD, but if you have heart issues, both could prove fatal. Anyone providing public information about any drug or medicine has a responsibility to make sure they are presenting possible downsides or dangers, not just all of its benefits.
@lucidmed3343
@lucidmed3343 2 ай бұрын
Hi Augustus! Thanks for commenting. I'm very sorry to hear of your wife's cystitis as it is incredibly painful. I understand your frustration that her providers did not warn of this potential side effect and contraindication. If she had a history of IC, did they not take a thorough history prior to prescribing it for her? I always provide fair balance in my drug reviews however for this general overview I didn't include every potential side effect or contraindication because there are many. When I do an initial drug review I have to stick to an outline otherwise the videos would be very long. That being said, I also always assume that if someone is being prescribed a therapy their direct provider will know whether a particular treatment is appropriate or not. Unfortunately, I've been disappointed a few times when viewers have written to me saying they were misdiagnosed or incorrectly prescribed something because their HCP failed to do so. Going forward, I will endeavor to include contraindications for these reviews that may fall outside of the most prominent. Danielle

This is why they must do a better medical history. Plus certain genetic testing helps with many medications. Sadly they do not cover these tests in most insurance plans. She's sharing the pro's about this for those of us who cannot function. Especially with pain and mental health issues like myself. I'm sorry your wife wasn't fully informed. I do hope she finds another testament

I passionately agree with a lot of what's being said in this video, but saying ketamine is "non-addictive" is not only hazardous, but also not entirely true. It may not have the addiction potential of opioids, but it can definitely be habit forming and potentially harmful when abused.

The infusions are life changing. My fingers are waking up from neuropathy some. It's going to be a journey for sure. But so much energy is back. So many things changed after my very first one. I'm on number 5 and 6 this week. If I had the money to and it was OK, I would go every month or every other. Thankfully they know some of us do come back quicker than others. You have to use your brain when you get them to build new feelings and knock down any fears. Also there are some very interesting books out there where you can read other types of patients' stories. I really would love to meet up with others who have done it in my city. Just to hear what we each felt and saw is so fun.

Hi Sharon! Thanks for commenting and your question. In a head to head contest I'd vote for the infusions every time. They are expensive...trust me I'm aware. It's really unfortunate that a therapy that has made such a difference is (of course) challenging to afford. Spravato is not readily available to your system and the nasal route just doesn't lend itself to the full benefits of this therapy. Danielle

Hi Terri! Thanks for commenting. Gabapentin is a tough one because I don't have a ton of experience with it when used for this issue. I've taken it before for nerve pain and didn't do well with it (personally) because it made me feel like I was having a dissociative break (head floating off my body). I wish I could provide more of an answer for you however I do have many patients who are on it for neurological issues and for some it helps and for others the side effects weren't worth it. D

@@lucidmed3343 Gabapentin seems to have zero effect on me regardless of dosage. Have been on & off it for many yrs. Recently got back on, filled the Rx at the pharmacy only to discover that it's now considered a controlled substance. Seriously?! I'd go so far to say that I have no idea why ppl like it. It barely reduces the tingling & numbness in my feet, does very little, if anything for nerve pain in general. Certainly doesn't appreciably help with bone pain or headaches. As both a Spravato & an IV Ketamine infusion patient, I really appreciated your very approachable & informative video. The IV Ketamine infusions *are* expensive but always very effective. The Spravato takes determination & relaxation to be about 75% as good. Little things easily throw off the experience. An unpleasant car ride to the clinic, intrusive noises heard even with noise canceling headphones, moving around too much, uncomfortable chair or room temp, etc. More so with Spravato, but can be a factor with infusions as well. I've never disassociated, but have "fought off" the experience by not going with the flow. Always feel in control. Lol, some clinics might consider either home visits, or having a friendly staff cat as the experience would benefit from a warm, pleasantly heavy cat sitting & purring on one's lap. 😊 Thanks again for your video!

For chronic pain, it's commonly an option at pain clinics. Many will go to Ketamine clinics where it's obviously more prevalent.

I've just watched about 3 of your videos. MG, this one, and.. okay I unintentionally lied It was only those two, but in my defense they are packed with a lot of information. I could edit this post, but ... I'm not going to cheat. You seem to know a lot about many conditions and their treatments as well as off label treatments. How chronic pain treatment is being withheld from patients who need treatment. I have MG (generalized) that I tolerate without typical MG treatments. I had a Thymectomy 1992, Mestinon until 2010. It causes muscle cramps and involuntary muscle movements. After having an injury 1988 (2nd spinal) I noticed that taking a small dose of an opioid (1/2 5/500 Vicodin) I had normal strength, normal motivation. This was prior to my dx 1992, I didn't know why I was weak. Now it's 2024, I've had several injuries and surgeries, resulting in long term opioid use and obviously I am dependent. 1st injury was 1979. Head/neck, ACDF C4-C5 which was the beginning of my chronic pain. I've started Spravato. Only now I not only have high acedocholine antibodies but also others I don't understand yet. I'll see a Rheumatologist next week for results. I feel terrible, weak, pain and flu like symptoms (mornings are worse) after having no access to Hysingla ER and suddenly stopping it. I don't know if all these are tied together. I'm weaker, I have more pain. Not until late in the day am I able to function physically. Emotionally I'm still stuck (PTSD) I end up basically doing nada. Do you think opioids have an effect on those things? I'm glad to learn Ketamine possibly does. Correct me if I'm wrong.
