As long as capitalist adventuring incentivises greed scams will follow one after another: contemporaneously with Enrod was Bernard Madoff, on the heels of which was Theranos. Politicians, beholden to corporate donors, will plead "we can't do much about the greed mania", and so will pretend to make reforms but which will keep their racketeering world spinning.

These scams relied on taking advantage of regulatory loopholes, lack of diligent regulatory oversight, and exploitation of investor confidence. As such they weren’t really rackets. Capitalist adventuring leads to technical innovation, disruption and progress. A few bad apples in a free market economy is the price we pay.
