I can’t wait til under display cameras get perfected as they are my favorite solution to the whole notch/hole punch/Dynamic Island situation. I definitely think pop up cameras are neat too but having more moving parts in a phone, especially like that would probably result in a broken and glitched out front facing camera at some pint, despite the supposed durability. Also, having fans on a phone is a neat way to limit heat, keeping not only the phone cool but the battery. A hot battery = a degraded battery so having the fan is quite nice. Idk if these fans actually help cool down the battery but if they do that’s pretty sweet.

I still use Asus 7 Pro with a flip-able camera module and it is the best solution. No notch or hole in the screen. Main camera, which is always way better than front-facing camera in any phone, acting as a selfie camera. Wide-angle camera is very useful when you want to take a selfie with a large group of people. And flash light is also available. Moreover flip-able module allows to take a panorama photos very quickly and reliable, it scans around in less than 2 seconds. And last, but not least, sometimes I rotate camera module by just 45 degrees to conveniently take a photo of tall buildings or a photo from below. Shame that the concept never became popular and it is completely abandoned now.

couldn't you just use a samsung dex for that? It's an android phone, it probably supports dex.

I'm another one who rarely ever uses the front-facing camera, and this phone is definitely iterating towards my preferences. Very cool to see the progress while keeping a headphone jack and losing the ever-increasing camera bump.

redmagic should of used a popup selfie camera instead. much higher photo quality and they look cooler too and would match a gaming phone

The underscreen camera is not anything new, it appeared years ago. problem is that with higher resolution, the camera image quality significantly drops. Most phone companies couldn't bear with it, cuz normal users still cares about that😂

My LG V50 has had it's cameras behind the glass and a smooth bumpless backside since 2019 lol. No clue why camera bumps were ever even a thing since clearly it was already possible to design them with a flat smooth back surface if they wanted to.

I really like the seamless/flat design of it. I think the bump on the flash is to prevent the flash from lighting up the glass for the cameras and causing huge bloom. For the teardown video, could you mention about the ergonomics of holding it? Like does it feel super heavy when holding it one handed, and if the corners are sharp?

I have been watching your videos on and off for years. I found them super useful when I'm looking at build quality for a new phone purchase, but I have always hated the sound of scratching the outside of the phones. So much so that I will either always skip that part of the video or If I want to hear what you said during those parts but I have to rewind, turn on closed captioning, and mute the video (plus undo all that after). Would you consider adding a visual and audible warming (could be a specific sound clip or something)?

Under-display camera quality has improved very significantly from what I last remember! Holy hell that camera being usable is definitely a pretty big improvement! Remember the old under-display camera phones where the selfie camera pictures were so soft, they were practically fuzzy!

That camera under the screen is such a neat idea; I was waiting for the downsides but overall this is just a super solid looking phone. A happy early new year to you as well!
@brennanIX Жыл бұрын
It's poorer photo quality wasn't too huge of a deal, either. It is a front facing camera after all, which is more of a "secondary" camera, anyways, which nobody uses to take "high quality" photos. For the purpose of face recognition, making a quick video call, or making a funny face with a friend, it's perfectly capable.

Same I'm just not interested on gaming on a phone. But I completely agree with you, the headphone jack, the hidden front camera and the flush camera on the outside is really what makes the phone interesting to me. It's basically everything that currently bothers me on my galaxy s21 ultra. I've looked at their website and the company basically belongs or is part of nubia, which makes non gaming phones. Sadly their phones do not have a flush camera on the outside (because of the lenses and sensors) and no headphone jack as far as I could see... But it has the hidden front camera!

I'm actually impressed by this phone, I haven't gotten a new phone since I got my iPhone SE (1st Gen) because I got sick of all the features being removed from modern phones with the only thing replacing the features being anti repair practices.
