This is truly a band that should re-record songs like this and release them. They are so creative and if you love Shame, how can you not really love this version?

This is the best version of the song ever in my opinion. It’s beautiful and the dueling guitars at the end are just incredible.

I don`t know if its necessarily the best live version - but its certainly a great one. The way they performed it during the "An Evening with The Smashing Pumpkins Tour" in 1998 was amazing as well.

I agree and actually prefer the album version. But this is transcendent because it takes a low key deep cut and blows it to the stratosphere. This could have been a hit.
@filmsceneinvestigation Жыл бұрын
I prefer the 1998 version, the hook to the song was the guitar riff and that’s gone here.

Kenny Aronoff did an awesome job on Adore. Jimmy is good but they can survive without him if needed.

Makes you wonder about the kind of album Adore would have been with Jimmy still in the band... And if billy had sooner rediscovered his love of loud guitars and the spiders from Mars

@@werideatdusk to be honest I wouldn't change a thing about Adore. It needed to be what it was. The album is probably the most underrated album of all time. Not even SP fans get it sometimes. Maybe you just have to be depressed to the point of all to love it to the max. It was the album I needed

glad i reposted it!!!! the pumpkins have always done a great job of reinventing songs live. the 1998 version of "stumbleine" or the vieuphoria versions of "disarm" and "cherub rock" spring immediately to mind.

It's a completely different spin on the song, Jimmy gave it an almost-Latin American or carribean vibe... So there is less shame in this one and maybe more love 😊

Great song, one of the Pumpkins best but definitely not their best live version imo. The black and white version outdoors somewhere in Paris with a joyful merry devil may care piano leading up to the menacing guitars by far better. And other versions this old cold SP fan has seen here on this site. But cool to see this version of Shame without a doubt.

I'm a very new SP fan. From the little knowledge I've gathered, it would seem that after 'Mellon Collie' not many people liked 'Adore' because it was too "different"? Could be off on that, but that's such a shame (no pun intended). I'm not sure if it's intentional, but they have seemed to change these songs for live versions, and this song was perfect as is on the album. If they were trying to make the songs more likeable, that's a bummer. The super slow and dragging sound this song has on the album makes the song so much more emotional and "real".
@werideatdusk4 ай бұрын
@@scovafd welcome to the wonderful world of SP Fandom. Among other things, SP fans don't agree on a whole lot lol. I actually love Adore and love the studio version the most as well, but am a big fan of reinterpretation in a live setting. Yeah your general thoughts are on track, Adore was seen as a disappointment when it came out but in the years since has grown in stature. It still is an outlier as the only classic SP album without Jimmy Chamberlin. It's a drum machine on the original "Shame"
@scovafd4 ай бұрын
@@werideatdusk Ahh yeah I did not know that. Why wasn't Jimmy on this record? I know the band had a fall out, but like I said, I'm pretty oblivious with their history and I'm still making my way through their records, but Adore is currently my favorite
