finest band in america, and the nicest guys you could ever hope to meet. the smithereens are a gift, and after 30 years, they are still relevant and on top of their game.

This is one of my fav songs, and as a world traveler, it always starts a new journey for me. The Smithereens are such a vastly underrated band. Love all their stuff.

Saw them perform with bjork and the sugar cubes in the 80’s. Weird combination of bands but they brought it. Sound just as great live as their recordings.

It's a shame that the Smithereens lower charting albums did not have the same success as prior releases did. Once all the record companies ate up each other and then were taken over by humongous corporations that were more interested in making weapons than a stunning guitar solo with a perfect bridge and singalong choruses... It's a shame because so many people who would have LOVED this tune have...probably NEVER even heard it! RIP - Pat

@kidcharlemagne76 They still tour, with rotating guest lead singers, usually either Marshall Crenshaw or Robin Wilson, the lead singer of the Gin Blossoms. I've chatted with them a few times, particularly Jim Babjak, their always- lead guitarist, and yes, they are nice guys.

Great band. My old band played these guys songs. Went over well. Pat DiNizio will be sorely missed. They played on the beach in Galveston years ago, at their prime.

Saw them at the House of Blues in Chicago in the late 1990s. Stood about 15 feet way from the stage and speaker towers. Had no hearing for the next three days, but it was one of the better concerts I had seen in a long time.

The CD "A Date With The Smithereens" was on RCA Records NOT Capitol. That group & the alternative group LIVE were my favorites!!

I don't remember how or when I first heard these guys, it was a long time ago but I have been a fan right from the start. First song I heard them do was Blood and Roses and I was hooked. Great band.

“Do something” “Just Do It” etc. All psychological siren songs / slogans that speaks to half the population at least. Such messaging seemed to hit a peak during the 90’s which were more sensory focused. Todays world is more intuitive focused, where people are asked to reject reality and make up their own.
