A fantastic version, especially as it exposes Andy Rourkes funky bass line 👍🏼

@@anncoates4104I’ve always loved this version, a very stripped backed version with only a couple of guitar tracks, the rhythm guitar track is much funkier strumming than the released, album & B-side versions. Johnny’s rhythm guitar track has loads of chorus effect which for myself is a lovely fantastic guitar effect and is what really gave Johnny a huge part of his own individual melodic guitar sound in the 80’s, many guitarists don’t particularly like chorus or modulation FX’s as so many are totally into more Hi-Gain overdriven guitar FX like a Marshall guitar amp tone, much more heavier sounding, Rockier tone, and nowhere near as the melodic guitar tones and riffs as John’s tone played through Fender twin reverb or Fender Deluxe guitar amps Johnny would use, which are clean sounding guitar amps. For me this is a much more desirable tone and more pleasing to the ear and what inspired me 36yrs ago at 12yrs old to go into primary school the day after I heard my older brother playing Smiths tracks in his bedroom and the infectious guitar riffs I heard gripped me sonically so I went immediately asked if I could start having guitar lessons, one of the best things I ever did as 36/37yrs later I play guitar everyday, songwriting, recording everyday and playing with my band which has given me everything in my life, job, enjoyment, creativeness, a huge love of music. The funky rhythm guitar track on this version I think really sounds quite similar to the guitar track in Barbarism begins at home . Love this version and the other versions.
