You ever gotten used to being so lonely and then something good comes like a new love and you got to take your chances, it’ll either be great or you’ll just be shattered once again, depression is so bad. It’s so weird how you just want to feel nothing after a while because you’re emotions are out of control

He seems to play the role of narrator and "inner voice" at the same time in most of their songs. Even when he moans it's sometimes funny and is all part of that inner voice role he's playing, like how he does the inner voice of a childish person in "You've Got Everything Now". He's good at showing pettiness and weaknesses of the human condition.

I sang this for my mom and she almost cried. My mother had been abused for much of her early life. She had an abortion when she was 23, a miscarriage at 25, and had me when she was 27. Many of her early boyfriends beat her and cheated on her. Luckily she's been happily married for the last 14 years and despite not being able to pursue a career in singing she couldnt be happier, but I can't help but feel this song was made for her.

It's heart-shattering and soul-stripping to become a new father at the age of 8 in a tiny beach community like Itanhaem, Brasil in 1968 where no orphanages or adoption agencies existed to speak of. We left our tiny, baby girl in front of a nice-looking home, ran away as fast as we could, and never looked back, not even once. The love of my young life disappeared into Brasil's vagueness never to be heard from again. No one knew her real name. Somewhere out there I have a beautiful daughter who is only 8 years younger than I am. I ran out of all tears a long time ago. Could I even bear to meet her now? I honestly don't know. I want to share my story: A few months ago I was dating a girl, the most beautiful girl I had ever seen, we were not a couple yet, but she swore too much love to me and had an intensity in her affection, treating me like the best man she'd ever met, a few days ago I was listening to this song at night, she sent me a message confessing to me that she slept with another guy and that she hadn't even used protection, a boy I didn't know anything about, but from what I had seen on his social media he was a boy who abandoned her, I had the worst anxiety attack in years, Needless to say, I cut off all relationship with her that night. To this day I am amazed that this song has been played that night, I don't know if God exists, but it certainly has a very dark sense of humor.

RIP Andy Rourke. This song has been in my head since hearing, as the bass line really carries the song. The fact that Rourke was childhood friends with Marr is probably what made The Smiths' jangly chemistry so good. Morrissey gets all the attention but as a guitar player myself, I'm sure he'd be nowhere without these two.

I tried getting into the smiths the other day, and from listening to the most popular tracks I decided they weren’t for me. But before I could put on something else, this track came on. I loved it! I’ve been listening to it on repeat all day, and i’ve decided to give the rest of the discography another chance because of it.

The Smiths are *the perfect band*. You've got a stellar vocalist with an off kilter but gorgeous way of writing and singing a song, a virtuosic guitarist that has carried the band and its sound, a smooth bassist with a great sense of groove to him, and to top it all off, a hard hitting drummer that wraps the song to a cozy little present. I love it.
