Great sound. I love that tuning--it has a special place in my heart because when as I kid I got to meet one of my heroes, Matt Auten ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZonWhXdjeqadhc0 ), and he showed me this tuning, which was my first introduction to alternate tunings (I don't know if I even knew about dropped D). Spruce top? Looks like it's not plugged in, so no pickup in the mix--is all that coming from one small diaphragm mic? What make/model of mic is it, can anyone tell? Thanks, Tony, for sharing this out, and for all you're doing to bring people together around music--and guitar music, at that!

I think it's a DiMarzio pickup (from what I could see full screen) but he also uses K+K pickups too. If you check out some of the Acoustic Villa video's he offers to send (or you can download) his gear list.

jammybilly thanks a lot! :) I'm currently looking into acoustic pickups, soo many to choose from, dazzo, trance audio, K&K, SD Mag Mic, Lr Baggs M80 are some of the ones i'm deciding between... Talk about options!!

Yeah he's definitely a fan of K+K pickups. I think he has more of those than DiMarzio. If you could make it to one of his KZbin hangouts (he spends an hour answering our questions on all sorts, you could ask him yourself, maybe even ask him if he prefers certain pickups with certain models (dreadnought/OM/parlour) and that might help you choose something for yourself. I guess the only other way would be to ask your local shop if you could try some out? He also does a nearly daily thing on facebook, during the week usually if you follow Acoustic Life on facebook. I love doing the research almost as much as the buying. It adds to he excitement! Good Luck with picking a pickup!
