@@Nderak I think you're just starting to realize that only exceptional car stories are good, and most are just "logistics stories." Think about how much of Ed's stories are "I tried to go from X to Y, but Z happened and it almost didn't work out but thankfully we made it to Y." You have people like Rabbit who simply tell great stories, but Chris is not one of those people unfortunately.

The person who broke into your truck saw that it hadn't moved for weeks and that it looked just like the kind of truck that is likely to have a free gun in it. This is just like the guy I knew who had his suv repeatedly broken into wondering why no one else seemed to have that problem till I pointed out to him the SIG sticker on his rear window. Of which I informed him, "When you are in the car it perhaps might sway someone away from car jacking you... When you aren't in the it it's an advertsement for 'hey break into this car for your chance to win a free gun'" fortunately his gun was on his person every time it was broken into.

I tell people that all the time. My cousin was in prison and while there he learned that the real serious home burglars woukd target houses that had Democrat stickers or signs out front. The reason being is that a lot of democrats are anti-gun and don't have one, and some of them that do have guns wouldn't shoot you if they did. One guy even said that he got caught and they not only let him go, they gave him food and money. So then he went back and robbed them again. The gun stickers just advertise, 'Hey I carry a high end gun' in my car.

Sadly, with your truck just sitting and not moving for months, that's exactly what your truck looked like. It would have been better to have your friend drive it around every now and then, so it looked like there was someone that was around to come after the thieves. But sadly, thieves don't care how scary you may look. My vehicles get molested on a regular basis, and my old 1986 Chevy Silverado 3/4 ton 4x4 looked like a piece of shit with nothing of value. But it got attacked a few times and stolen the last. (For a FRICKEN TWO MILE JOYRIDE!) Busted up the steering column and everything. All for a two-mile joyride and an ammo can of crappy tools.
