I think there are only two river systems in VA with Snakehead populations, not sure what is up with the secrecy. You are correct, I will not change my ways and pumping the tires of these fish will likely encourage the 5 gallon bucket crew to spread these to more bodies of water in VA, as many have already done. I will keep killing them and eating many and I won't do anything to encourage folks to spread invasive species that have an impact that we do not really understand yet. I did enjoy the show, other than the snakeheads swimming away part.
@GAs06tC3 жыл бұрын
There's more than 10 river systems in VA with established snakehead populations. Not counting 5 others that have had recorded catches in the past 3 years.
@overhead183 жыл бұрын
@@GAs06tC Interesting, I looked it up and DWR says the Potomac (of course) and the Rappahannock. What are the other ten river systems that contain them in VA? Frankly, I would am having a little difficultly thinking of ten river systems.
@GAs06tC3 жыл бұрын
@@overhead18 I suppose I shouldn't have said river "systems". Ther are 10 confirmed rivers with established snakehead populations. Some are smaller rivers feeding off major rivers. Don't forget about the Eastern Shore fishery as well
@overhead183 жыл бұрын
@@GAs06tC I am not aware of snakeheads on the eastern shore, but I don't fish out there. To my knowledge there are snakeheads in the two rivers I mentioned and tributaries that feed them. Va DWR still encourages people to harvest every snakehead caught, that was really my point here. I prefer people not be encouraged to catch and release and certainly not encouraged to spread them around to other bodies of water.
