The snake pond from hell is finished! Got back out there with the Prinoth M450e-900 mulcher and the Kubota U55 and got the last remaining trees and brush mulched down! Everything turned out great, and no snakes this time!

That's really too bad the way that was cleared. I'm not understanding why that pond needed to be exposed so much. Lovely clear water......and now just looks like a big live stock tank. Could have been another place to hang out and enjoy.

Beautiful job! Enjoyed watching! That swale looks like its actually the back side of the pond dam. If so, he really needs to get it it cleanedand keep it that way. We just cleared our pond of 30 foot pines that were 6 feet tall when we moved here 17 years ago. I told hubby then they needed to go,and he said no. He learned an expensive lesson.

I enjoy watching that machine gobble up everything - but felt infinitely sad that all the trees had to go. A few shade trees would help prevent evaporation from the pond but I dare say the roots might produce saplings!

The owner should (maby) leave the trees in the ditch/levie side to help hold the soil in place,it might not seem like much but those tree/brush roots hold the soil in place.

Why would you not of used a chain saw to cut the bigger trees first. We cleaned out around our pond. First used a bush hogs on then a chain saw to take out trees we don't want. Saved some for shade. Then took the hush hog and it cleaned up nicely. Seems it would of taken less time to of taken out the bigger trees.

That ditch was created when they made the pond. Bulldozers pushed ground up along that whole side to create the pond. Your actually walking on a man made levy for the pond. The other three sides are natural descents. The levy is a great fishing levy. We made hundreds of these ponds in Alabama in the 70's. I'm sure they are all grown over as this one was. Nice job! You cleared it off really nice for the guy. He needs to have someone come in now repair the holes especially in the levy. Then spray, till and seed the entire levy to firm it up! Then stick that pond and get out the fish fryer!

Looks great, But wouldn’t the MTL make quick work of all that brush leaving just a few feet near the ponds edge for the Masticator? Getting more brush chopped with the same amount of time spent on the job? I’ve seen you turn bigger trees than that into mulch PDQ with the MTL.

Great question Darren! Yes the MTL would have handled a lot of this brush out here, really anything up to about 4-5 inches but it takes a lot more time for that rotary head to cut and mulch larger material. For anything over about 1" the mulcher is just way faster and cutting and processing that material. I could have used the MTL but it would have just taken a lot longer is all and I wanted to be more efficient! Thank you for watching and commenting!

Leaving a few chioce trees for shade would have been nice considering the air quality and wildlife. I can understand wanting to get it under control but it really boggles my mind to want to get rid of ever tree . Just my opinion. The machine made quick work of it .
