Japan's view towards WW2 is actually very interesting. America was content to let the Japanese government who started the war remain in control, and Japan has actively suppressed information about the war. War criminals are heralded as heroes, politicians who hint at Japan having done bad things are forced to apologise or lose their jobs, and there's an extensive lack of education on the topic. Not only do some people not believe that Pearl Harbour happened, there are people who don't even know that Japan was at war with the USA. Japanese Imperialism is insanely popular compared to what you'd expect, and it's a very serious issue.

Lmao the fact that it was him just putting down people with no hint of comedy just shows why you people cry about free speech. But it's not even that deep in your brain. You didn't even watch the special, you have no idea what he says or the context of it, or even the fact that it's just him spouting his opinions with no comedic tone, you just read a headline that said "liberals cancel comedian for trans jokes" and that was enough for you to turn it into propaganda for the agenda that pertains to your worldview.

I'd caution you guys to not jump to conclusions about pre-historical anthropology if you don't have a background in it. With more "hard sciences," you would quickly discredit any one guy claiming stuff that goes against scientific consensus as a conspiracy theorist, because the terminology in those fields goes above our heads. But with stuff like anthropology, people can explain it in ways that make their opinion on it seem like common sense. There's way more that goes into it than that. I haven't seen the show in question, so I'm not gonna speculate, but I would not jump to conclusions that there's some giant conspiracy to prevent archaeological discovery that everyone except this guy is in on.

Okay And another thing Sweeny is right. The archeologists who "Discovered" the pyramids often believed it too not be made by africans. Infact, The Nazi party believed that it was the "Anchient Aryians" who built the great monoliths of egypt. You have to understand that archeology is, like everything else, marked by the time it was in. The people who discovered these locations often found pundants lining the pockets of archeologists to aid in spreading a particular narrative. Often this was done by facist countries (Most famously Nazi germany) This is because of facist nations tendency to lean heavily on legacy to legitamize themselves. The people who claimed the anchients egyptians making the pyramids was myth, were people hellbent on selling there own. Also the "politics" of the now are basically just wanting evidence thats peer reviewed. Science is not going to just uproot its entire well established consensus for the sake of one peice of dubious evidence. Verification of the validity of said evidence, and the skepticism of its value are neccassary parts of the practice. P.S Im not saying anyone who believes in ancient alliens is racist, (Though the relation between the altright and lunatic conspiracy are shocking close.) Im just saying that objectively speaking, a lot of people "questioning" the field of history are, to say the least flooish, and antithetical to rational and empircal truth and the death of intellectualism.

1:46:04 I tried to find stuff on this but the only thing I found was how [Dave Chapelle’s trans friend who died] Daphne’s sisters backed up everything Dave said in “The Closer”. So I’m not sure where SBG is getting his info. I agree Dave fucked up a lot (the whole “team TERF” this is so stupid and at odds with what he says his position is. I think he straight up did not understand what TERFS actually do) but that doesn’t mean we should throw the baby out with the bath water. I think it’s especially important to take cue from trans women who have actually seen his special (as opposed to people who refuse to watch it and just say “it’s bad”.) and see how they feel about it. From what I’ve read, it’s a mixed bag. Some trans women do find it offensive, others see it as misguided but well meaning, and many don’t care either way.

There are actually such a large and radical amount of people in Japan who specifically think Pearl Harbour was a conspiracy made up by the west to justify the nukes that a speech given by the Prime Minister of Japan simply acknowledging the existence of Pearl Harbour received so much backlash that he was forced to publicly withdraw his statements and apologise. It's much worse than you think. Many Japanese people to this day, including many within the government, still dispute and outright deny Pearl Harbour as well as The Rape of Nanking and many other actions specifically taken during WWII. There are so many people in these groups that they can literally pressure politicians into retracting statements and apologizing. Something that has happened on several occasions, most notably with the Prime Minister himself.
