I'm sure 99% of the people who are into sneakers have gotten got before. It's funny hearing yall talk about highschool stories. I remember in the mid 2000s, people didn't care as much about rocking fakes, they would just say they're 'customs'. Fakes were more acceptable or people just didn't know back then. In my city, there were a bunch small shops where they'd have all different colors of AF1s, & it would be 2 for $100. We also had this guy called the "DookieMan" (we called AF1s, Dookies where I'm from lol), everyone had his business card. All you had to do was call his number & he'll deliver you AF1s, which I'm sure were fakes. It wasn't until the later 2000s where I started being able to tell the differences from fakes & realizing a lot of people were rocking them.

“Resale” shops stock 3 things. Jordan’s. Dunks. And Yeezy. I stopped trying to go to those places to “buy, sell or trade” anything besides those three (which I don’t collect). Resale is Retail, and it’s dying a slow death. The pandemic made everyone want dunks and Jordan 1’s, now all the places that have tried to capitalize on that in the years since have all become the exact same thing. Remember MentalKicks? Ya, places like that were the original “reseller” sites for me, and I feel it will start going back to more individualized sites and stores for the brands and silhouettes that have been “forgotten” by this whole model. And if not? I’m cool rocking with the brands and pairs that I’ve always wanted and found more easily. Great discussion as always guys 🫡
