@@SecurityGuy42 Been there, done that at 7,500 feet on the Afgh / Pak border while getting snowed on. Didn't have tea. The other guy with me and I had to laugh at our misery. So there's that.

Ah British doctrine! Takes me back to basic lugging that SLR around. Recoil was a bitch but same was it powerful. Trees had to be 18in thick to be viable cover.

The Rhodesian Army upon realizing how deep the 7.62 can penetrate, created a react to contact battle drill where they killed enemies they weren't necessarily able to see by shooting 1 round into the bottom of tree trunks and firing another round slightly above where insurgents were likely to be behind cover (either prone or standing/kneeling).
