Agreed!! I live a "soft" life and I don't spend thousands of dollars on anything. I just work a normal job and live within my means. Making me free of stress, worry and unpaid bills. I have a great marriage, a beautiful community surrounding me and my identity is rooted in Christ. I have everything I need.

Preach!! This is exactly why I hate social media. People are so materialistic and make such small things their personality. Nothing else interesting about them. Like talk about life, deeper stuff. When we all die, none of this matters. Doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the things you enjoy but it’s like don’t think you’re better than others. People need to kill their egos honestly. People also think soft life is always having expensive things and it’s like no. Soft life can be buying cute purses at TJ Maxx too! People need to look within! Great, great video! Happiness is truly an inside job that even me is still working on!

Thank you for telling the truth. People don’t like the truth. I know exactly what you’re talking when you say people are doing certain things to attain the “soft life”. Then they go on social media to show the world what they have but never show the down low things they do to get it. I hope young girls can see through it all and focus on themselves.

I never understood the term acting like you are used to good things. If the “good things” are new why wouldnt there be some sense of awe. Why would I pretend to not be in awe of something I never experienced?

Love this! I went out to dinner last year with a girl I had met at an event & she was so loud with everything😭. She pulled out her camera & phone for everything. What’s worse is she would do everything with flash😅. I almost passed out from wanting to fade into the background lol. She asked to take pictures of my bag too for the “content”😅. I really enjoy documenting things to make my own little video memories but also I try to be discreet, quick & not super loud about it & act like I’ve been somewhere lol. & I do it based off of my comfort as well, the environment & never with anyone I’m meeting for the first time. Even if we are familiar it’s 30 seconds- 1 minute max for pictures on food then phones get put away & we spend our quality time. & also I’ll gage the comfort level of the person I am with. If I ever choose to include a friend in something I’m posting, I always ask permission.

Yes, I know people who are claiming the soft life on social media but sleeping on blow up mattresses, working multiple jobs... begging and borrowing money, and/or living in the hood. I agree it is tacky. When you have something worth bragging about, other people will do it for you. It just seems like these people aren't used to having nice things.

Personally, I like that I found this term. When I was married, I gave over 100% to obtain the softlife, because my ex was taking everything from me. He was holding me back. Could have acheived more in less time. I am used to working hard, so it flew under my radar. One of the biggest mistakes of my life - him. He wanted the softlife on my back (no work). I will not make that mistake again. Everyone, choose wisely.

Its tacky cuz it makes it obvious that u struggled before and all of sudden u have some kind of freedom of staying at home and u want to show others that u are better than them. Girls making videos about being stay at home gfs 🤦‍♀️ thats not a flex … thats a given in many cultures. If u live with a man the bare minimum he has to do is to pay for things. U are making his life easier by living with him. It gives kinda “hungry girl” energy.

I seen the title of the video and instantly liked. I seen so many women being so loud with proclaiming their soft life. And yes girl. My mother taught me the same thing “act like you’re used to something”. So many people act like they aren’t used to things. It’s like “you’re new here” type of thing.

I don't think a KZbinr is in a position to tell other people about what content other people should upload. If content offends you- just don't watch it. Everyone defines their lives in different ways. You filming with products in the background can be seen as quite pedestrian/typical/ tacky out of a bathroom cabinet- but you clearly don't. It's all about personal choice- lets Live and Let Live!!

With all due respect, I just think you missed her point. And you don’t have to “watch it”, I know I do NOT watch or expose myself intentionally to this phony aesthetic however, the ads and the promotion are everywhere. Im rarely on social media and yet I still see it a lot. I remember a pre-social media world, and it was much more refreshing listening to others’ experiences or seeing their pictures organically rather than now to prove something as most do. Of course, I do think people should make their lives comfortable for them but nowadays everything has an agenda behind it and no one has their own personality/life path anymore. We’re not learning one another. People are just following what they see. Wanting to fit in, sort to speak. I don’t see her telling people what to upload, just being real about the influence of passive aggressive agendas. Of course, live and let live…that goes both ways.😊

People share information to help themselves and other people, very smart allow it to become the normal reality; you will be seeing alot of this, because for so long people have been able to gatekeep information, feel shame for wanting more, even guilty for putting themselves first... I love seeing women express themselves in a way that's not harmful by way of belittling themselves for other's trash validation.... Women should definitely be inlove with themselves, have boundaries, live amazing healthy lifestyles...

Hi, questions for you. What definition are you using for “soft life?” I heard you say a few words, but not a studied, researched definition. Do you think that social media can be a teaching tool? As everyone isn’t bragging? Lastly, have you thought about what brought someone to the lifestyle? People who have had a very hard life and moving away from struggle. I am doing research on this, and you have a right to your opinion, but it seems narrow and privileged. Maybe people have skewed what soft life is, but escaping horrible work situations or relationships to please yourself and seek peace isn’t tacky. Let’s chat? It is marketed toward black women because of what we have been through… collectively. But maybe you haven’t? Whew 😰 you’re blessed. I think your algorithm has your view narrowed, which is possible!
