Don't mean to ask a stupid question, but did they play our anthem every night on television at some point in time ? If they did I never heard of it and I am shocked they stopped 😡

@@eireoutdoors1355 RTÉ used to stop broadcasting sometime around midnight and they'd play the anthem just before it. Not sure when it changed exactly.

@@JimTheJunior it’s starting to be like this in every western country. I know the BBC stopped playing our national anthem at the end of each night not that long ago

@Fíonán Murphy 1961 was when Irish television commenced. 1926 was when radio broadcasting began in Ireland.

@People Republic edi jopolong If your not joking the BBC is the British Broadcasting Corporation, which if they done it, it would mks t likely be God Save The Queen, which as far as I know is the Anthem for the Whole of the United Kingdom, not England and Northern Ireland Alone. This was i believe the first broadcast on RTÉ2 which launched in the 1960s. I could be wrong but I'm fairly sure of it.
