Oooh, I love this song. A fabulous tribute to the brave men of the Solomon Browne and the crew and passengers of the Union Star.

It took me a long while to write this song. It was a difficult thing to find the balance I was looking for not to make the song a dirge. Those men deserved something that remembered not only their bravery and selflessness but also their strength.

Amen to all these comments. The loss of the Solomon Browne was an absolute tragedy that should never have happened. Thank goodness for the various changes that this disaster gave birth to. But at such a terrible cost. A wonderful song. Thank you.

Indeed...the Union Star Skipper initially refused the offer of a tow most probably because of the costs involved. Thank you for your comment🙏.

A good tribute deservedly given Steve ! I had a young friend on board this sad lost at sea… You may know of the tradgedy. Alan Ayres, the owner of Plymouth-registered scalloper The Pescado, which sank with loss of six lives in 1991, has long claimed his vessel also went down after a collision with a submarine - and there are “striking similarities” with the Bugaled Breizh case.
