I was badly wounded by an IED in a stream bank in Afghan, my friends and family played this to me when I eventually returned home from hospital. Hearing this today brought tears to my eyes, and I am not ashamed to admit it. Makes me wish I could walk again to continue serving my people, my country, and the world.

I'm an American Army veteran that served in Iraq and now currently serving as a police officer. Through my years of service in both the military and law enforcement I have had my doubts if what I'm doing is still worthwhile or if people actually care anymore. Songs like, "I Vow To Thee My Country" remind me of why I really continue to serve. From your friends across the pond, thank you and God bless.
@garrettelliott2565
@garrettelliott2565 3 жыл бұрын
It's not the most hated, I get far more people thanking me for my service than those that say something hateful. It's at least 10:1 so I still feel the mass majority support law enforcement. Law enforcement in the United States is also not something you can really put under an umbrella as one entity. Don't fall for the media's trap, they're full of lies and only want to divide us to keep their ratings higher. Between state police/troopers, municipal police, metropolitan police, county sheriffs, constables and other sworn peace officer agencies each has it's differences especially in standards.

@@davidcrick1123 Thank you for saying what was on my mind. I'm also guessing that "scott porter", in addition to being full of sh**, isn't British either, he's an American millennial. Just look at the reply - grammar, punctuation and spelling mistakes. A dead giveaway of a product of the U.S. education system.

Garrett, It does matter, and your service in Iraq matters. Your service as a police officer matters too. The love of Jesus Christ brings truth and salvation into the life of a believer. Your country, and the United Kingdom are so blessed to have that foundation stone as a national religion. Stand up , be bold, and never lose sight of the truth in Jesus Christ.... Every blessing.

I am a proud American and veteran of the United States Army While I do admit that I love the patriotic songs of my country, I am so JEALOUS that you have such a beautiful song as one of your patriotic songs. It's so beautiful with simple lyrics of love of country and God. I had the pleasure of meeting some British Army soldiers who were members of a British Army signal unit while I was stationed in West Germany. They were the sister unit of my battalion and I would have been proud to fight along side them had it came to war. God bless the British people and God save the queen from an American comrade-in-arms.
@mikeorgan1993

Sorry George at no point in that patriotic song is there any mention of God and for me I am offended you try to make out there is. We are not a religious nation with less than 46% believing in any God and falling fast (It is estimated that by 2050 as few as 20% will have any religion whatsoever) and I just wish I will live long enough to see that day come. Then we can treat all religions as the cults they are. Like many of my fellows we look at the USA in shock at what religion has done to your country and want no part of it. One day you will follow us, until then you're a broken nation with false and terrible beliefs; God and Guns and damn the poor and sick. In the meantime bother us not with your delusion we have no use for such nonsense.

@@WorldOfKnowledgeTH There are many versions of Holst's Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from the Planet Suite one of the most famous is of course "The World in Union" which is the theme song for the Rugby Union World Cup. I was not that interested in classical music until I heard Manfred Mann's Earth band - Joybringer in 1973, I was interested when I found out it was an adaptation of the same movement as above and so went out and bought a copy of the original Suite by The London Symphony Orchestra and from that moment my love of classical music began. I still love rock but mix it with a little of the classical notes as well.

Aircraft flown at that time were mostly Taylorcraft Auster, crew consisted of regular artillery officers trained pilots (at least in Polish case flight training took place in Cairo and Pretoria, South Africa) Shoulder badge of the 2nd Polish Army Corps was the Maid of Warsaw, worn underneath the famous 8th Army Badge - The Crusaders Cross.. Poles were part of the 8th Army since North African Campaign.. For Your service in support of the Polish Corps Artillery the Polish Corps commander gen Anders awarded Your squadron the right to display the Maid on Your shoulders.. I was young at that time and today I just regret that I haven't asked them more about their experiences when I could still do so ,, but rest assured we had ALWAYS treated them with the highest respect.. from the station attendant to the Captain of the aircraft included .. All we could do was to fill up the First and Business Class with our veterans to the full capacity ..

As a German veteran (12 years in service), I always feel a little melancholy when I hear this or similar songs. Because of our military history, it is very hard to show dedication to our service in public. Any form of military pride is always viewed with a certain amount of suspicion by politicians and the public. Yet all I want is for my homeland to know that I would give anything for them.

You should feel proud, the Germans are considered the hardest enemy we have ever faced, you are considered the only true equal, I remember hearing men tell stories of fighting the Germans, my grandfather fought the fallshirmjaegar in Italy, he would tell me about it for my bedtime stories as a child, any british man who faced the Germans in combat is given a lot of respect.

It is clear from my surname that I'm not british. However let me say how great this video is, what sense of gallantry it conveys and moreover, how beautiful the english lifestyle is! 🇮🇹🇬🇧 For ever friends! ❤️ (My profile's flag is the Piedmontese one, greetings from Turin!)

Surnames are no indicator and you could still be British. There are well over 300, 000 British families with Italian names and well over 1,000,000 who's ancestry can be traced back to Rome. After all this hymn was composed by Gustav von Holtz and he like his father Adolph von Holtz were British . He only dropped the von during the war. Welcome to the club Corrado.

I cried when I received my CAS to do an MA in UK, watching at the same time this video. Now, I'm back in my country, I have my Diploma, new friends and know beautiful places. At the same time, I returned in a complete financial ruin, but now I am recovering. Hard global times, but I will back with my faith in God, and my family. I pray for the UK, Thanks.

This song kept me from harming myself in my youth and kept me on the path I chose for myself. It reminded me of a higher purpose in life, which for me at least is to defend the innocent from the evil. From an Estonian Army soldier, thank you for this amazing piece of music!
