Bautista committed multiple taboos Number one: he hyped up this match up saying it will be a blood bath despite admitting afterwards that this was his game plan all along. ????? Number two: Completely abandoned any possibility of damage and focused just on control time. You can’t not get booed if you do that. Number three: Doing this to a older legendary fighter like Jose Aldo Number four: getting rewarded a win afterwards and proudly bragging that it’s what he planned to do Bros stocks dropped so hard

You're about to blow up on YT bro. Crazy how good you emulate different fighters movements, really shows how fucking good you really are. I still wouldn't hate a fight vs Aldo. Everyone knows he won that fight. But you and Suga for the #1 contender fight makes too much sense

You can still fight aldo, Dana seems like he wants to reward aldo as if he’s won, since most of the media and community think that he won

I think that clinch control that doesn't lead to either striking - or even worse, leads to you getting pounded when you just lean on someone - or any further advancement of position should be just broken up quickly. If someone manages to clasp arms around opponent's legs or even back, ok, let him work on the takedown. If it's just leaning on someone next to the cage with underhooks and zero attempts to advance, just break them up and let the clincher attempt any actual grappling offense instead of stalling. Rules should not reward complete passivity.

In theory it's already kinda like this, the problem is that it's quite subjective, every ref can interpret this rule different

That fight is the reason why so many people don't watch MMA. Nobody wants to watch takedown defense for 15 minutes straight. It's crazy that successful takedown defenses don't count for anything on the judge's scorecards.

How would you score a takedown defense? Like a significant strike?
@jetstreamsam65212 ай бұрын
@@anthonybrown3606just count them like how they count successfull takedowns
@letmegetuhhh39592 ай бұрын
@@jetstreamsam6521takedowns don’t score, on paper and judging it’s just a position change. Takedown defense is the same. The problem is takedowns usually lead to at least rabbit punches and the other guy not able to throw at him while on the ground so ultimately the guy with the takedown will score slightly more

@@letmegetuhhh3959 ik im just saying they should. Also in my opinion if the control time doesnt progress to anything they should not really count that
@dylan1042 ай бұрын
I 1,000% agree there needs to be some clock where they have x amount of time to actually do something. But, according to the unified rules, Aldo still should have won that fight. Control is *only* scored if effective striking and effective grappling are dead even, which is realistically never. Control time itself is not effective grappling, only advancing position and attempting to end the fight is. Aldo clearly had the more effective striking in round 3 and got robbed of the win. Bautista lost any fans he had with that one.

"Good on him for doing that." I wish you'd all stop saying that. It's against the rules to try and "control" your opponent against the cage without working for a finish, and that's what Bautista did. The Almeida fight had the broadcast team waling, but that's how quickly those positions should be broken up when a fighter is stalling for "control."

The art of fighting without fighting. Bautista sucks and didn’t earn shit
@lowang72552 ай бұрын
Was a blatant robbery, control time is not effective grappling. Jose stuffed all take downs, messed up Mario's face (visible damage/effective striking), no sub attempts or effective grounded strikes because no successful take downs 0/10, etc. basically saying defensive grappling and effective striking are second to holding a guy against the cage and kneeing him to the thigh. The rules are there the 2 judges were objectively wrong damage is scored first which aldo won on.
@redlizerad82682 ай бұрын
Yeah this was a bad robbery. The third round was pathetic. Bautista did zero damage and got pieced up any time they separated. His cage control didn’t even look dominating which was the worst part.
