I agree, it does take a lot more effort to do VR videos, primarily because we have to be forever conscious of our head movements, and try to minimize them so the viewer does not throw up while watching us. But when it works right, oh mama is it a joy to behold. Much like THIS video!

Just to be clear - there is NO motion blur in VR1. Brightness of our VR image is achieved mainly due to quality of optical stack of VR1. Displays are working in nominal values as they should be and image quality is superb. Also please note that Steve is using not final strap design. Ergonomics have improved.

That is a relief, as many people report motion blur in the Crystal that uses similar displays.

I cannot get over how the audio is. It literally sets off my buttkicker while I am watching the video. That is awesome!! Also the tapping of gauges thing is priceless. 🤣😂 And no, I have not bought the birds yet. I likely will not, but i am enjoying the heck out of your videos with it, and I need moooooooooooore!

I’ll be picking this Duke bundle up soon, but right now I’m absolutely immersed in another pristine example of the sim modeller’s art, the F-4 phantom over on DCS. It’s fricken good.

@@VRFlightSimGuy I have all the DCS mods, and so far this is the first one that I’m inclined to learn how to fly properly. Normally I fly in simulators like I’ve just nicked the aircraft during some kind of zombie apocalypse, but this one I’m feeling that I might take a real deep dive into and learn it thoroughly, as I feel that by flying this plane well, it’ll only make me better in everything else, especially the gen four stuff. It’s ace!

Here’s a challenge for you. Do your ferry flight in the Duke, but do it using radio navs only, so no GPS. I made the same flight from Manchester to Florida in the Analogue Kingair, and radio nav aids get a bit scarce from Iceland onwards

Thanks for talking more about the VR1 feel. It's a shame to hear it feels heavier than Crystal. Voodoodevr recently visited Somnium in Prague and got to briefly test presumably more recent versions of the VR1 with an updated head strap. He said that the comfort of it improved since his last visit and that it felt more comfortable than the Crystal. Granted he was only there for a couple hours so probably not a good long-term test. But there might be some hope there. It seems though if you want to enjoy mixed reality, you may end up having it be just a dedicated sim headset. If you've got the money to buy the fully equipped version of the VR1 though, you can probably spare a bit more for a separate headset better suited to stand up VR.

Does anyone think Somnium vr1 has a decent horizontal fov? Because the fov on my BigScreen beyond is awesome though there is some blur in the edges of my screen. So I do hope in the future I upgrade to a headset with more horizontal fov so I have more space in the sides to look

Hey buddy. Yes I remember testing out some Brunner (I think) force feedback rudder pedals at the Varjo HQ a couple of years back. 4070ti is a decent card. Use 3500x4142 as a baseline.
