This looks like a very nicely built machine, and the design is attractive, but I think it would be hard to justify this over the Flair 58 with the heated chamber, lower price, and track record. +10 points for providing enough room for any scale to fit

The build is completely different, am I am a fan of the Flair too. The heated chamber is nice, but I have a soft spot for well built, timeless design, and in person the Sonic S7 is amazing. I'm currently biased as have been loving this machine, and see it staying at home for a while :)

Great video! What's the thermal stability like? The unheated version of flair 58 had a lot of issues with getting the water hot enough.....
@CoffeePartsTV
@CoffeePartsTV 10 ай бұрын
Will have to do a follow up video looking at it in more detail, might do it when I compare it to the flair and get a Pesado TPD on both units... In saying that getting the temperature up is the part of the workflow I don't enjoy... The hardest thing temperature wise is getting the portafilters to temperature, yet helps using a bottomless. Also, it not being a normal box coffee machines means that using porcelain cups like I did, you also need to have them heated as they are not hot from sitting on top of a machine... All in all I found it good, but will have to be more clear on a comparison video on the heat up process..

The best part about the Sonic S7 is that it supports an E61 shower screen.

I probably should have mentioned that in the video :)

The lever workflow is not really that slower from a semiautomatic… if you’re using a 58, as you don’t need to manually preheat. Only one step more with turning on the kettle and keeping it clean is actually easier.

That box is nuts! Need some storage space just for that Love my Flair Pro but this one looks more stable and probably more leverage due to longer handle

They should make that box optional

This is the Delux version, there is a basic version (same machine without the box, and accessories) For me the box is nice as I cycle thought machines at home so nice to be able to store it, but in reality the basic model makes more sence!

Levers = YAY, and just just new to them with my Flair Pro. I actually love the variables - the roast, the grind, the tamp presure, the temp or the water, the presure and time of the pull etc.... It's like playing the violin and when you get it right, it is so right, so delicious. Thanks for the video - this Sonic S7 may just be my next step up and relagate the Flair Pro and it's nice small travel case to creating a better hotel room coffee experience. Looking forward to to your Sonic S7 Vs. Flair review.

I got the Flair Pro 2 for 4 weeks now, and I love it. I love the entire experience, from preheating the brewing chamber, filling the water into the chamber, and then of course the actual pull. The way it feels when yo pull down on the lever and actually feel the pressure and resistance of the cake, the very manual and non-automatic nature of it, just has something truly beautiful. I like your violin analogy. Only downside of the Flair for me: I actually bought it as a secondary machine to my QM carola e61 pump machine, but now I find myself constantly wanting to pull that lever (and so the flair has become my primary machine)...

always Yay on manual lever. Got me a F58 as a placeholder for my next machine and ended up forgetting about what I was getting next. Very happy with it. Can't wait to see your comparison

That is awesome! It's funny, we have a few customers with machines like the LMLM who then get a Flair as a weekend toy, and end up using the Flair more! There is something satisfying about lever machines, and their coffee is always amazing :)

You keep saying to use a temperature controlled kettle, but you don't need temp control for a manual espresso machine. You'll always set it to max temp anyway since the metal grouphead will lower the temperature so much.

80ml chamber seems a bit small. What is the max yield you can get? Also how direct is the feel of the lever?
@CoffeePartsTV
@CoffeePartsTV 11 ай бұрын
Depending on what you are trying to get out could be small, yet the lever has an awesome feel and quite a bit of feedback. Do like the way the lever works and that it allows pre-infusion, as found this to make a big difference in reducing channeling compared to the Flair.
@atzedevries9563
@atzedevries9563 11 ай бұрын
Can't you do the same preinfusion with the flair 58? Fill the champer with water lever down and if you lift the leaver it will fill the brew champer with water right? Aka pre infusion.

with the carrying luggage and the accessories included, it’s almost same price with the Flair 58+, at least here in my country. Can you compare the two in the future?

Am planning to do a video on both, and spolier alert as it stands do like both :) Have been a fan of the Flair 58 for a while and done several videos with it, in saying that currently bias as really loving the Sonic S7! The build is way way better, has some nice little touches like the drip tray, and overall more refined. The Flair is nice that it is heated tho... Quite a few more differences, will cover it in a video soon :)

I completely resonate with your initial thoughts. Currently eyeing the Flair 58 for its heating element, but the Sonic S7 is making my decision tough. 😅 Unlike those looking for a portable espresso maker, mine will find a permanent spot on my bar. Still, the S7's included luggage makes it surprisingly tempting, even if I ever decide to take it on the go. Decisions, decisions!

Between this one and the SuperKop it's a hard choice. I've asked questions of both manufacturers and both were very responsive. The pro to this one over the SuperKop is you preheat the chamber once and you can do back-to-back runs. The SuperKop requires a follow-up pre-heat or a second water chamber. The con to this one is that it's made in China; the SuperKop is made in the Netherlands and appears to be more solid/sturdy.

I wish it was temperature controlled like the flair. It’s a beautiful product though and MHW makes some great stuff. If they made one with a heating element then I’d take this over a flair.

I love the build quality, full metal and looks like will last for many years. I also like the large base which allows you to put any scale on it. It is more polished design to the Flair. But no heated chamber is big no no to me. Wish they will added later.

I'm going to add a thermometer strip to the chamber not that we have filmed it. It is super well finished, and if they do add a heated chamber I hope they do it in such a way you can plug it in only when needed, as love the bench looking clean without cables. The drip tray was a nice touch compared to the Flair which I didn't mention in the video, and the finish is on point.

I have this machine, and I can’t seem to push all the water through the puck. I noticed that the gasket on mine wasn’t letting the portafilter turn as far as others. I’m trying to troubleshoot.
