2:54 False, Secret Rings sold like wildfire, with over 3.3 million units. It was an early Wii game, you think it sold poorly? Lol Black Knight didn't sell as greatly, but it still surpassed 1 million sales in the first year, which isn't bad.

Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn was an early Wii game yet is one of the worst selling Fire Emblem games. Granted Fire Emblem wasn't nearly as big an IP at the time as it is now but it goes to show that not every Wii game sold well.

Over a million copies on a game so late in the Wii's life after most of the casual market moved on from it (and a good half of those 105mill were going unused on some uncle's shelf) is good sales numbers. That's just a fact, no matter your hate-boner for the Storybook games

I know these aren't popular, but I REALLY liked them. I still do. The creativity, the unique powers, the "shoehorning" into other stories...love it! I know I'm in the minority here, but I would really enjoy seeing a third and fourth game in the storybook series.

I never finished Secret RIngs, however I quite enjoyed Black Knight for what it was. I honestly enjoyed it more than Colors. Probably because there is almost no boring 2D platforming

Everyone talks about how incredible the CG cutscenes in these games and Unleashed are, but nobody ever talks about the company behind them- Marza Animation Planet. And if you're wondering why Forces had zero gorgeous prerendered cutscenes, it's because MAP was busy working on a little side project you probably haven't heard of by the name of Lupin the Third: The First.

secret rings was a banger when i was a kid, i spent years with unawakening float stuck in my head because it was the most memorable thing in that game i can’t play it anymore since it’s so hard to control but back in the day i was flying through that game so easy

I remember playing Black Knight for hours when I was younger. Played it again a few months ago, and I did like it, but there were some parts that I do not remember liking as much as I did back then. Fighting King Arthur for the 2nd time especially. Shaking the remote at the right time when you get close to him, but you gotta use soul surge when doing that. It'll move in slow motion, and to me, it kinda made it harder. I think it would have more fun to time the swings without soul surge. Maybe that's just because I played through games like Sekiro, Dark Souls and For Honor. Games where you need to react quickly, or in multiple, just guess. Also sometimes I would swing the remote and sometimes Sonic wouldn't swing and that was kinda annoying.

I love how one of his complaints about these games is that their is limited control options with swinging your sword and running. Like, how is that any different than your only options being jumping on your enemies and running lol. Like yeah, the homing attack definitely feels better, but you're still only holding forward and tapping A twice lol. It's probably just more noticeable because of how linear the levels are though so you don't have to steer with the joystick much.

I have no idea why, but I loved Sonic & The Secret Rings for one reason: The multiplayer mode. Even when no one was around, I would boot up Secret Rings just to play the minigames in that mode.

Everything I've heard about Black Knight is so unfortunate. It's a game that *looks* fun, running around slashing a sword with sonic like a shounen jump character looks good on video and in concept, but the execution and controls must feel so terrible in practice that doesn't show.

Fun Fact: Secret Rings is a big reason why Sonic '06 was such a glitchy mess. The devs & funding for the game were taken from 06. You get to decide if it was worth it

I love Black Knight. I loved the story, the characters (god the characters were amazing and so edgy) and the music. I even liked the gameplay. I like to think of it as some sort of Sonic-Birth-Certificate because it was made a month before I was born.

I aways hated the Sonic storybook series, I have Sonic and the secret rings and Sonic and the black night but when I first played the two games, I didn't really like it even the secret rings, I don't know if the people sees it but in secret rings sometimes the controls are terrible and you can't do anything. I never got very far in secret rings. I can't remember for sure but I think I never got past the tutorial. I originally thought I was just bad at the game(and maybe I was) but I'm pretty sure the controls are just bad.

For me personally, I just couldn't get behind the idea of Sonic being transported into storybooks, since you can do that with pretty much any character in existence; it's not as unique as some people think. I also really wasn't into the whole "Sonic characters portraying characters in the book" thing. "Tails? Is that you?" "I'm not Tails, my name is Ali Baba!" "What are you doing here, Shadow?" "I am Sir Lancelot! Who is this Shadow you speak of?" It just got really old, really quickly! Not to mention, this seemed like the start of the downfall of Sonic's friends. It felt like Sega, after years of listening to so called "fans" and "critics" (who must obviously know what they're talking about 100% of the time and are clearly never wrong) whining about "Sonic's stupid friends" it's like they came to the decision that the only thing they can do with them is shove them to the sidelines. Have them in one or two cutscenes just to remind us that they still exist, but have them barely do anything that advances the plot or justifies them even being there, and certainly not have them be playable, cos that will upset all the whiners who have moaned about every character since Tails came along, and who clearly don't want any kind of variety in their gameplay. And if you're the kind of fan who wants to see your favourite Sonic character getting treated with some dignity and some decent gameplay then.... Tough Titty, your opinion apparently doesn't matter, I guess? It seems like the mindset is that it's more important to keep the negative fans happy! This character problem is made even worse in this era with the "Sonic's 1-Time BFF" thing. And by that I mean the fact that, while Sonic's old friends were becoming less and less relevant, every new game was insistent on shoving in a brand new character who instantly becomes Sonic's "Bestest BFF Friend Ever EVER", spends all of their screen time at Sonic's side taking all of Sonic's time and attention, is sad because they have some kind of problem that Sonic always solves just by being himself and giving them some kind of cliché advice, they share a bunch of emotional/sappy moments together, and finally they vanish from existence never to be seen, heard of, or mentioned ever again. Shara the Ring Genie, Merlina, Princess Elise, and Chip the "Whatever the heck he was supposed to be"; they're all the same damn character! And personally, I don't think this is an improvement! Don't get me wrong; I'm all for Sonic making new friends, and I'm all for Sonic wanting to help people. That is totally in character for him. I just don't like it when it comes at the expense of already established characters; many of which have a strong fanbase who want to see them being utilised better. It's one of the reasons I liked Emerl from Sonic Battle. He's your customisable fighter, but he actually has a role in the story. He literally develops as a character, learning new things as he goes. He interacts with the whole cast of that game, not just Sonic, and they all interact with him in their own unique way, and each have something to teach him, or sometimes learn from him. Not to mention, he was (sort of) brought back in Advance 3, and was briefly mentioned in Sonic Chronicles. And if they can ever sort out the legal issues regarding that game, I'd love to see them showing more of his backstory and where he came from, and ultimately delve more into the history and lore of the Sonic the Hedgehog world. I think that's way more interesting than these one time storybook titles.
