Yes indeed. Glad to hear the creepy laughter remains in the background...not quite the same without it. 😆Extra points taken for the deep, thoughtful lyrics...

Haha, right? That creepy laughter and the old man monologue are the secret sauce-it wouldn’t hit the same without it! 😂 And those ‘deep, meaningful’ lyrics? Truly the work of a poetic genius. 'Dirty Old Man' is basically Shakespeare for punks. The Sonics really knew how to keep it dirty, raw, and a little bit unhinged.

@@PunkMediaKaraoke Yes indeed. Especially for 1965. And some folks considered the Rolling Stones 'disturbing' to their suburban middle-class sensibilities...😆Always found it interesting that it took the next generation (or even the ones following) to appreciate some bands and artists for their influence, objectionable or otherwise. Have to think The Sonics, whether they realized it or not, certainly 'blazed the trail' in a lot of ways, for any number of artists/bands that followed with an "alternative and non-conforming" (terms held in high esteem by some folks here) mindset toward the music industry, and, at times, society in general. Glad to know there are folks out there who can appreciate all of it, from Johnny Cash to James Brown, and Ray Charles to The Sex Pistols and King Tubby. And folks like yourself who give us access to it, and who appreciate the songs as much as those who sing (or scream, shout and grunt) them... Cheers.

@@Steve-f5v Absolutely! The Sonics were definitely ahead of their time, pushing boundaries long before the mainstream caught up. It's wild to think how bands like them helped pave the way for that rebellious, 'alternative' spirit that still resonates today. From Johnny Cash’s raw storytelling to The Sex Pistols' in-your-face attitude, there's a thread that ties it all together. 🎶 And you’re right-appreciating the full spectrum, from Ray Charles to King Tubby, takes a true love for music in all its forms. I'm just happy to help keep that spirit alive with the karaoke tracks! Cheers to you for recognizing the trailblazers and keeping the energy going! Much Respect!🤘

@@PunkMediaKaraoke Well! Indeed. As the younger generations might say 'right back at ya', although I believe they sometimes say some things just to sound 'cool'. At my age, the term 'cool' has certainly had a number of meanings and revised definitions, over time. Just ask Mick and Keith. Your words are certainly appreciated, though I'm not sure about the 'energy' level being what it used be. Have to say, admittedly, the recognition part of it took a long time to develop, and I was fortunate enough to find some truly great folks along the way the way who also were keen on 'connecting the musical dots'. And when the internet (and KZbin) came on the scene, and grew to the worldwide proportion it is now, well, it was a bit like pouring gasoline on the fire. Understandably, not everybody cares about, or wants to know how we got from Billie Holliday and Big Mama Thornton to Beyonce and Taylor Swift, or from James Brown to Biggie Smalls, or even from The Sonics to The Stooges, to Social Distortion. (Paul Anka, Pat Boone, Johnny Mathis and Mantovani have intentional been omitted, although we suppose there's room in the world for them, as well, just not in this house). At any rate, sincere thanks for the positive words. Good to get reinforcement for the idea that there are some things that transcend cultures, subcultures, and 'socio-economic status'. ♪♪♪. Cheers.

@@Steve-f5v 'Cool' is one of those words that’s constantly evolving-though I bet Mick and Keith would have some wild stories about what was considered 'cool' back then compared to now. 😆 But honestly, the passion for music and connecting all those historical dots? That never fades. Energy levels might dip with time, but the excitement of uncovering how it all links together is still alive and kicking. 🎶 You’re right about the internet being like gasoline on the fire-suddenly, it's so much easier to trace the lineage of sound and see how artists are connected across genres and generations. Whether it’s going from Jay Hawkins to Rihanna or from The Sonics to The MC5s to The Stooges and The New York Dolls to the The Deadboys , it’s all part of a bigger picture. And the threads connecting James Brown to Biggie? That’s the kind of history that shows how much influence transcends time and style. For those of us who get that, it’s like cracking open the code to music’s DNA. As for Paul Anka, Pat Boone, and Johnny Mathis? There’s room for them somewhere, just not here. 😅 But even they played a part in shaping the musical landscape, whether we’re jamming to their stuff or not! It’s always refreshing to meet people who see the bigger picture-how music connects beyond just one genre or one decade. The way it crosses cultures and subcultures, tying together sounds and influences, is something not everyone appreciates. So, thank you for recognizing that and being part of the chaos. It’s great to know there are others out there who dig deeper into how we got from the old school to what’s playing today. Cheers to you for keeping that fire burning and reminding us that music really does transcend time, culture, and even 'socio-economic status.' 🍻 🎶...I own 12000 records from all genres. Collecting since 91.
